The NorCal dude from Belgium
Well , you all know that i am from Belgium , Europe.
On a regular base , i write a topic or i give an answer on a topic.
In the past i did apologize for making some grammar and/or spelling errors in the text i wrote on this forum.
Till someone told me i did it quite alright.
I am just a working guy and graduate from high school ( 18y).

Now i need your judgements by seeing this video.
It is from a representive from the European Union ( a german politician ) who is holding a speech.
Your comments please.
I don't say i do better , but hee , i am not used to speak in public and that dude earns his money ( a lot ) by speaking to the public!

I want to kick his a$$ out of the EU parlement !!!!

Öttinger talking English.

Bruno, your written English is far, far better than that jibberish. I have no problems understanding you! In Fact, I can understand you a whole lot better than half of the people on the net.

Those were english words...but that wasn't english!!

Trust me, you're nowhere near that level. Let me show you the crap my 13 year old daughter and her friends type. I'll give money to anyone who can decipher that horsecrap.

Well , i have a son (17) and a daughter (14) and when they are writing textmessages or on a chatroom , i don't know what they are talking about.
E-mail is out of date , making proper appointment is out of fashion and nooooooo discipline.
Who's fault : me and my wife
Actually my wife , she spoils them too much !!!

Personally, I only speak two languages: english and BAD english!! As I said in an interview once: There's a reason I became an engineer, I don't have a firm grasp on the english language. Yes, I actually did say that during an interview. I was asked a question and made up a word, and the big boss corrected my english.

So, your english is guaranteed better than mine!!! :craz

Bruno, you do FAR better with the English language than a lot of the people I run into... probably because you make the effort to write correctly, whereas many people just don't seem to give a damn any more... :dh

BTW, can I be a honorary member of the Belgian Stangfix group? My grandfather came to the US from Marcke, Belgium in the early 1900's...

I work for a Swiss owned company, with huge operations outside the US. We get lots of folks through, and all of them speak english better than the guy in the video. As a public official who speaks to many different countries, he needs some lessons.

That said, it's hard to speak other languages once you learn one- I don't speak any other language, although I can read two others. But my wife's father & uncles immigrated when they were 18-24. Some have almost no accent, and some have heavy accents. All are pretty easy to understand.

One of them told me he knew he was an American not at the naturalization service, but when the began thinking in english.

Of course , being president of StangFix Belgium ( a title i suddenly have gotten by the big shots of StangFix USA ) i can confirm that BobV is a honered member of StangFix Belgium ! LOL

Regarding your grandfather : is his family name " van Marcke " ? This name is common known in Belgium.

Thats something i can understand.
I can express myself in english , german and a little bit in french.
When i am drunk or very angry , i can speak english and german very well.!!!
I am a bit shy and that prevents me most of the time to speak without mistakes.
If i am drunk or angry .............. i ain't shy anymore .
Ask the police officer in Luxembourg .Luxembourg is a tiny kingdom SE of Belgium where they speak german and french.

Bruno, you do great!

I have dealt with many people that English was their second or third or even fourth language. I know it can not be easy.

Your English is better than many who have English as their first language.

You're English is fantastic. That video is pretty bad, but I'm not going to criticize because that guy can speak more English than I can speak German. At least the man is trying.

Bruno, if we didn't know you were from Belgium, we sure wouldn't be able to tell by your English! You do great Mr. President!
