Good choice - can't beat it for the money!"RapidRabbit" said:Well, I spent 4 hours running around town looking at tvs last night with a crabby 2 yr old. All I can say is there are a lot of different models out there. In the end we decided since we have so many other things going on now we just couldn't justify $1000. Something about finishing the mustang and the power tour. I don't know.
So we ended up with a 47" vizio. The model is e472vl. It is 1080p, 120 Hz and has the WiFi built in .
Seemed to have a good picture in the store and since we don't have hd programs or blueray anyway, they all are going to look crappy at home. I don't need mickey mouse and Jake and the neverland pirates in hd anyway.
My MIL works for Walmart so we got it for $583+ tax. For that price if we don't like it we can move it in the playroom and get something better later.
Thanks for all the replies everyone.
I will get it hooked up tonight and let you know what I think.
Probably has more to do with WHICH Vizio model you're comparing and who has messed with the floor models - what "adjustments" have they made to the picture? :shrug One of the 1st things I do is to find "Restore Factory Defaults" on most electronic shopping. You'd be amazed what people do........"Horseplay" said:All you Vizio fans have me confused. Anytime I have ever looked at one next to another screen all I have seen are flaws. Maybe that is the difference. With nothing side-by-side to compare I'd bet most TVs do look pretty good. I'll have to head over to Best Buy or someplace and have another look.

"RapidRabbit" said:I'm sure we will eventually get a blue ray. But our current dvd player is an all in one home theater combo that we have also had for at least 12 years. It works fine and we rarely watch dvds anymore, unless its barney or something. I don't want to have to go out and buy all my crappy 80s movies on blueray. Ferris bueller in hd. I don't think so.
We may do netflix though. And I am going to check into upgrading our dish box to hd. It's so old we can't even get remotes for it anymore.
Nope. Digital purchase and download for storage. Right now you can buy on Amazon and it is stored by them in your "library". I'm sure you will continue to see one time view options but you will always be able to own as well."dodgestang" said:Blueray will play all your old DVD and in most cases upsample them so they look better.
If you wait too long....we weill be onto the new medium of pure digital delivery only and never being able to actually own a video and having to pay for each time you view it![]()
