Linda and I are doing our best to keep them open locally.

Midlife, have you checked the local shop in Pier Park for the peppermint?
That's 20 miles away and over the bridge....Is their peppermint any good?

It seems the only way to keep things going is to be consistent about things.

Oh well. Our car club still meets every Wednesday at a restaurant and we shovel food in our faces and have some laughs. :thu

At least you guys have something once a week or even on a regular basis.

Their lame a** excuse is that no one wants to be on the hook every week to put out cones or otherwise get a block of spaces together then clean up after. Ok, I get that....my attendance is hit or miss just like anyone else's. Some months I'd make it every week while other months I was doing good to make it even once.

My thought was we had 10 to 20 folks that showed up pretty regularly at the old spot and I bet we could work up a calendar or schedule to have four or six people working a rotation. I bet a manager at a lot of the local places would pay a flunkie to spend five minutes to put out some cones if they knew they were going to get 15 or 20 more people in their place (more since a lot of folks would show up with the family) on a regular basis on Saturday night.

Clean up isn't an issue really. We don't have any ricer punks so most our folks eat and throw their own trash away.

They also managed to kill the website forum when they took it down to redo it. It took forever to get it done and now no one really post there after they finally got it back up and running.

No forums and no regular meets...people don't make contact on a regular basis and membership dries up. Plus, I used to be able to tell folks with cars that might be interested in joining to go to the pizza place on Saturdays and come hang out. What do you tell them now? Come be bored off your rear end at a once a month business meeting or wait till November when they have the next show?

I basically see no reason to pay my dues this year. I am considering talking to some various local car friends and see if we can get an informal cruise in going that doesn't involve "the club".

There is a James Coney Island that has the perfect parking lot for it and also a different pizza place locally that would be good as well. Thinking about talking to the managers and see if there is any interest.

You could always join my club and drive an hour or so to the meets. LOL

That would be a little far, especially on a week night.

I am thinking about investigating a Mustang club that is sponsored by Gullo Ford in Conroe. I am trying to figure out what their schedule of activities is but I have a friend in the group so going to check with him about it.

To be honest, I prefer a group that has a mix of cars but a Mustang group would be ok also.
