Some of you may know that my hobby is the disappearance of Amelia Earhart. On Saturday Dec. 11 at 8PM Eastern, Discovery is having a 2 hour show on the disappearance. I'm not on the show (thankfully!...I hate being on TV!), but the head of the non-profit research organization I work with will be. I've not seen the show, but it will show all of the archeological work done on a remote island in the Pacific where we believe Earhart ended up. My research was mostly on what happened in 1937, and I found documents in archives that had not been seen by researchers. Those documents allowed us to understand what happened on the flight, sometimes minute by minute. There should be a fair amount of time explaining those events.

Most television is junk designed for pure entertainment. This show was meticulously reviewed for historical accuracy and should be very educational and factually correct. I hope you find time to watch it and find out what one of your fellow Stangfixer has been up to over the past 20 years or so.

Figures, something finally worth watching and I'll be at the company Christmas party :rant

As long as it doesn't interfere with my porn watching, I might chime in.......................might!!!

Everyone knows Amelia was kidnapped by aliens who use the Bermuda triangle as an intergalactic gateway. :confu

I like most informational shows in Discovery and History channel. :thu I might get a chance to watch it depending which house we're at Saturday night.

I didn't. I still believe the Bermuda Triangle is in the Atlantic Ocean. Who knew?

I'll be tuned in and DVR'n it.

I saw something a few weeks ago that sounds like what you describe this show to be. They seem to think she was on a mission for our government and was captured. I don't want to give it away, but it sounded totally plausible.

OK I set my DVR to record it Saturday night at 5pm in HD. I will give it a look see.

If they don't tell me for sure what happened...I'm not watching!!.....LOL

Just kiddin'....can't wait to see it. I love that mystery.

Along the sames thought.....I didn't know Amelia had problemswith her electrical shorts. :roll

Sounds pretty cool. I love that kind of history shows. Too bad I will be in Minneapolis all weekend and no DVR.
I guess I will have to wait for a rerun.

OK...the truth is, Amelia asked me for $5000 and I told her to get lost.

I'll be watching it. Last week or so they had the hollywood biopic on tv which peaked my interest. My take on the internet reading afterwards was that she was overrated as a pilot and her last attempt was poorly planned and organized. So it will be interesting to see and hear what the real experts conclude.

Was that the one HBO hyped the poo out of and turned out to be as history packed as Pearl Harbor with Ben Aflac (i know) in it?

IIRC, both times she crossed the Atlantic she landed far from her intended landing place.

I have her original second crossing (Natal to Dakar/St. Louis) navigational charts. I was able to reconstruct the actual events at and hear the coastline. She out and out lied about what happened when she arrived on the African coast.
