i know how you feel. if it werent for steph & my son jacob, i would be alone with no family. i havent had any contact with anyone on my dads side since i left florida in 88. after the folks moved here, they kept contact & i stayed in the loop thru them. after mom passed in 2000, a couple made the trip for her funeral, but none showed for his funeral last year. they dont have a clue as to what went on & what we suspect about his death. on my mom's side, i have an aunt/uncle who i talk to occasionally, but even when they lived 5 mi from me we wouldnt see each other for yrs at a time. they always worked odd schedules so it was hard to catch them. i've lived here 18 yrs & can count on one hand how many times they have been to my house. their two children, my cousins were really close to me growing up, but have each been here one time in 18 yrs. steph's family is the classic disfunctional bunch. lots of "victims" (everything is always someone elses fault) & "users" (dont have time for you unless they want something) sad thing is, my stepson has taken those roles too. we havent seen our grandbaby since christmas because we wont jump thru the hoops & play the games & open our wallet when he thinks he's entitled to something. its really sad on holidays like mother's day, father's day, easter etc to ride thru the neighborhood & see the houses with 15 cars parked around for the get together...
