Underhood heat removal?

I thought the Power Tour typically travels at speeds greater than the highway limit...
:lol yes they do, but when you try to get 2000+ cars in a fairgrounds or school or something like that, it gets backed up and you sit a lot.

A 160 degree thermostat will do more bad than good. Once the engine temps reach 160..you get maybe one open close cycle and then the thermostat will open and never close to allow the water in the rad. to get any cooling time.

You could go under the hood and temp. mount a couple of the small 6" fans that you plug into your lighter socket. That would give a bit more air flow at parked speeds and can be removed easy.

Did I read that the heater makes your wifes feet hot??? That means the doors are not adjusted correctly to cut off the air flow thru the heater core.
I guess you could be right about the T-stat, the heat on the floor is just radiating from the box I think, I've checked the doors and they close okay.

I like the idea of an extra radiator. I have another heater core I could mount in the fender well and run the heater hoses to it...

Another option is temporary/permanently remove heater hoses and box.

I wouldn't go that far. You never know if you'll need the defroster during such a trip. Not fun driving unfamiliar roads with a fogged up windshield. Besides, having the coolant route through there adds more time for it away from the heat source.

no I don't want to remove it but I am considering a "shut-off" on the hoses. That way when we are on the open road, no hot water is circulating above my wife's feet. If the engine get's hot and/or I need the defrost, a quick flip of the valve and I'm good to go...
