Yeah, they'll work, but I think they'll "work" better not mounted behind the grille.

I think I am going to have to go that route myself, I just have a few coats of paint on mine.

Did you polish them yourself?

Nah, I have a local guy that does really great polishing work. He polished all my stainless trim molding as well as my wheels.
 
It's all a matter of personal preference, but if it were me I'd mount them flush with the grille in a Shelby style grille like Craig (Tarafied1) did. IMO, it's the best of both worlds.

Thanks Craig. Your's is awesome too. I can't wait to finish the new engine. The picture in my last post was taken one second before I ate a few pistons back in May :po
