voltage regulator upgrade needed?

a few months ago, I replaced the alternator on the 68. Oreilly's remanufactured, not sure if I got the 40 or 60 amp (60 I think). I still have the old style voltage regulator with the large cover and contact points. Do I need to change to the newer style voltage regulator? I think the newer one is the solid state w/o contacts points? I think I read this somewhere, but am not sure...the brain is getting old. What do you all think?

If your existing VR regulator works, keep it. When it dies, get an electronic version. They will work with well over 100 amp alternators.
