Wanting some ceramic coated tri-y headers, Dougs or Pertronix?

Looking at the Pertronix ceramic tri-y's currently on sale at CJP for 350-something, and the Doug's that I've never found on sale and which run in the neighborhood of $550.

My gut tells me to save my pennies for the Dougs, they have larger primaries and my guess is thicker flanges. Will be going on a slightly warmed over 289 when I get the motor back in my car, but after I get the car back togetoerh and on the road I plan to start working on a 347 for it, so the larger primaries would be more useful then.

Any opinions?

If you are planning a fairly hot 347 then Tri-Y's would not be my first choice. A good set of long tubes would probably be a better choice. What size are the primaries on the Dougs? A stout 347 will like 1.75" primaries. More important is the header collector. Not sure what the Dougs headers look like but you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to headers; in both quality of the materials and the actual design of the headers themselves. It takes a lot of time to come up with a good header design that fits a specific vehicle which in turn raises the price. I guess it really comes down to how crazy you plan on getting with the 347 in the future. If its just going to be stroked with mild performance parts its probably not going to matter much but if you plan on a well matched set of heads/cam/intake then a good set of headers is just another important part of the equation. Hooker Super Comps are a pretty good header for the money in quality, fit and design. For the most part factory ceramic coatings are poor. You might be better served to get the painted header and then have Jett-Hot coating do a ceramic coating for you. Just a thought.
