Re: We have been broken into - UPDATE

That is great news. Now just to change all you home locks! How did they get in your home?

Re: We have been broken into - UPDATE

Even thieves don't want a subaru....

Really that is great....

Re: We have been broken into - UPDATE

Am I the only one simply amazed that Craig found his own stolen car without even trying?! Outstanding detective work, sir.

Obviously (not just because it was a Subaru), they took the car simply as a matter of convenience. Dumping it in that lot. I'm guessing drug addicts needing quick cash (selling cell phones) and a ride to go buy some of their drug of choice.

Re: We have been broken into - UPDATE

Great that you got the car back and glade your safe.We had an incident last night that scared the hell out of the wife. I immediately thought of your predicament .Loud knock on the door about 11pm. Wife was in the bathroom and I was in the bedroom. When I got to the door I could hear the storm door being rattled like it was trying to be opened. Cell phone in hand and for some reason my big aluminum flashlight was by the door. Dialed 911,grabbed the flashlight and opened the door. Guy was sitting on my porch and claimed he was looking for his sisters house. Needless to say,While I had and open line to 911,my wife was on the house phone with them. After chasing the goof off the porch I waited on the top step for the cops to arrive. They caught the guy headed down the street and asked him the standard questions. Turns out,he was knocking on everyones door with this excuse. Us and the people across the street were the only ones who called. The one cop said they were taking him in to question him about a couple of robberies in the neighborhood and he'd talk to my wife at the courthouse today as to what they find out. First thing that went through my mind was Craigs break in Cali. Very scary stuff.

Re: We have been broken into - UPDATE

OMG, it gets better yet. 7am today I get a call from the local police dept saying that they might have some items belonging to me after they had stopped a car they were chasing around 4am today which had big bags full of cel phones, key rings, etc. The suspect got loose and took off leaving the car. They apparently know who this a$$hole is. This officer waited until 7am to start calling people and just happened to grab my wife's cel first and looked at the historical call list with my number being the latest, thus they called me. After a few minutes of description exchanges over the phone, they seem to have had both our cel phone and all my key rings, intact. Said I can come down any time this am.

7:30 I was at the police dept shaking hands with the officer who was responsible in stopping the car and who also called me. Re-activated wife's phone and inventoried all the keys. All there. Now that I just bought a new iphone 5 last night, I will sell my iphone4 to offset my purchase of the 5. Had to remove the 4 off the "stolen" list via Verizon so I can easily sell it.

What a weekend!!

Well that's good, shame they didn't shoot the prick in the knee. I hope your piece of Concrete is safe. :beer

Excellent!!!

When I went to the Charlotte Grand National in 2002, it was the first time I towed with my new F-250. I had always taken my company's F-150 prior to that trip. We had just gotten to the hotel in Charlotte when my office manager called me to tell me that the F-150 had been stolen. My heart almost stopped, and then I went ballistic when I found out what had happened. One of my doofus employees had taken his vehicle in to the garage by our office and then took the company truck (without permission) to go get lunch. We have both a removable chip and a club for that truck, and I had told my senior staff that they didn't need to use them when they were way out in the boonies because no one would be around to steal the truck. Well, this idiot had overheard that and interpreted it to mean that he didn't need to lock up the truck at the grocery store down the street which was a prime area for vehicle theft.

Fortunately, the next morning, I got a call that the police had recovered the truck. The only reason they did was that we had commercial plates on the truck and the sharp-eyed officer spotted it parked in a southside apartment complex and was suspicious. I think it would have been in Mexico the next morning.

I told my office manager to fire the jerk and she talked me out of it. I didn't have all the details at the time, otherwise she never would have been able to do that. When I got back to the office the following week, the idiot never apologized. I didn't fire him, but I quickly ran out of work for him and he left. Didn't have to pay him unemployment. That was my revenge, especially when Wal-Mart called asking for a reference about him.

+1. That's creepy. How did they get in? Do you need a hearing aid at your advanced age? Is the mankini safe?
