Welcome PM 65

Hello all together,

I am new to the forum.
Found Stangfix.com through a search for (install)expierences on the Street or Track coilover setups for the vintage Mustangs. Read some very good and informative threads here and also saw some usernames which i know form other forums. So i decided to join and here I am, some information to my person:
Name is Mario, 29 years old, living across the big pond in europe (Austria, far far away :) ) and i own a 65 Mustang Coupe since 6 years. It`s my summer season car and is equipped with a slight modified 289 engine, 4gear wide ratio toploader, disc brakes on all 4 corners and some other stuff.
Here some pics of the car, enjoy.

The engine was build up in america some time before the car was shipped to europe. Through a piece of a registration sheet i found via mail / internet the last owner which gave me some details from the engine components:

1965 289c.i. block, bored .060 oversize with Hyperutectic pistons.
Holley 600 cfm dual feed double pumper carburetor
Weiand single plane high rise manifold was mounted, i changed it to a Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
Mild port work on Ford GT40 heads with Crane roller rocker arms
Hooker competition headers
Ram performance clutch
Balanced and blueprinted

Since the car is mine the engine has a ticking noise which sounded like a shoot lifter. So after checking the usual things (leak exhaust system etc.) i found a cam lobe was wiped out and the lifter was also "dead". So i replaced the cam and lifters with a Edelbrock Performer RPM Cam / Lifter Kit, new valve dual springs and at this time i put the Performer RPM intake on it.
The engine is running great, more vacuum (better brakes with the booster), more power, buuuut the ticking noise has remained. :rant

Checked the bearings when the oil pan was dismantled, all good as far as you can see and feel. As time goes on we will see what part is causing the tickering... :confu

Thanks for the nice welcome guys.

@silverblueBP are you course racing in your signature pic? - which tire / wheel size are you running?

Mario,

That picture is on the 2.1 mile road course at Heartland Park Topeka. They have a Touring Club every 3rd Wednesday and we have a blast!

I have 15x7 TTD's all around and am currently running Nitto NT-01's. I have a set of Hankook Ventus R-S3 on order. Both are 225/45-15's.

I've run Hoosier R6 in the same size and 6.00-15 Goodyear Bluestreak bias ply tires too. They are all a little diff in traction, but a lot different in price!

Being in Austria, do you sing "The Hills are Alive with the Sounds of Open Headers" while cruising in the 65?
