Let us know what you find when you get that fleabay column and disassemble it, I was looking at it for a friend on another forum and the amount of rust at the bottom bothered me, I could see that even the 2 pc. floor bracket had small piece missing due to rust so I was afraid it may have had water up in the bottom tube of the column sitting. I think the accordian metal under the rubber boot is thinner so more prone to rust through faster, was worried about that crumbling. Let us know if it is in decent shape after all. Take some pics of disassembly if you can, wish I would have to show the plastic pins that allow the column to collapse and the hollow upper D shaft that the lower D shaft compresses into in a collision.
