What did you get done on your Stang today????

Just came to the decision that the passenger side door is too far gone to repair. Couldn't weld anywhere along the bottom with out the metal just disappearing. So now the hunt is on for another door. Hopefully I can find a used one and just use the new skin I picked up on it. Ain't one thing it's another.

There is one for sale by me. I was thinking of picking it up just for the skin he's including with it. Shipping would probably be too much to make it worth it for you.

Pulled the T5 to see why it kept popping out of fifth. Just as I was guessing, fifth gear synchro came apart. Now do I rebuild again, or buy a new trans.

Pulled the seats out, steam-cleaned them, the mats and the carpet. Looks just as clean as it did before, but my OCD is satisfied. :thu put on the new wiper blades and serpentine belt, and replaced the plastic door latch bushings. Tinkering. :roll

I did make one very cool find - the Ford buildsheet under the front carpet, which confirms the special order for Saleen status:

I'd be all over that just for the skin. Just took a good look at it and it seems like somebody repaired that corner like they did on mine. They just slammed filler into until it oozed out and hardened. The Dynacorn skin from CJ's is 149 and the off brand is 118. I brought mine directly off the Goodmark site for $125 plus shipping. I see it went down to 118,Must be the cheaper of the 2 that CJ's offers. I got in touch with the guy who has the on on Craig's list around here and have to call him today to set a time to pick it up. Hopefully he'll hold it till Saturday for me. He emailed me more pics and it looks like just surface rust at the corner. Little sanding and some navel jelly and then Hit with epoxy primer and done.

Washed one on my Mustangs and found paint float all over it. They had painted the building where I worked last month And I was not told to not park where I do. They painted over the weekend and I work that Sunday.

The Clay Bar did a nice job on the float. The I did a 3 step wax and it looks great. I wanted a nice wax job since this Mustang has to sit outside through the winter.

Me too!

The original selling dealer attached a badge to the back of the car WITH SCREWS, :wth

Since removing the badge really isn't an option, I "went with it", and found a license plate frame from the same dealer and installed that today... :shrug

Picked up the new door yesterday. I'm happy. Has a few rough spots on it but nothing like the old door. Does need the skin,But I knew that going in. Here's some pics.

Rust bubble in the back corner. Ground it down and uncovered bondo and the hole it was covering.

Front corner. This looks like the only problem area. I put a bit of muriatic acid on it to see if it would clean up. Will probably have to do it again

Like I said,It needs a small amount of work. I will have to swap out the fastback glass with my coupe glass and bolt in assembly. And those rust holes I might just float in some silicon bronze instead of migging them over.

Finally looks like I've turned the corner on this resto. All the metal work is done and over the past 2 weeks my Dad and I have been sealing the seams and getting her primed.

Can't wait to see some color on her.

Over the weekend I rolled the 64.5 out of the garage and proceeded to toss out two trailers full of crap. Now I can see the Mustang again and am restarting for the 500th time. Got till April and I'll have been working 10 years on this car :roul
I have to get a couple used tires to hold her up as two of them go flat almost as fast as I air them up. Going to try and get the engine pulled out of the corner of the garage and hook it up this weekend and run it on the floor of the garage. If it is alive, I got to prep it and paint it black so I can stuff it in. More stuff I bolt on the car, the more room I'll have to work on it. Still only needs the body panels bolted on and aligned, blocked and painted. Once that is done, I can put her together.

Last week with my son's help we got my garage cleaned up and sorted out quit a bit. This gave me room to work...finally. Today I got the bug to work on my doors and hauled the passenger door in from storage. I got the outer skin removed and the perimeter cleaned up. The door skin is laying in place and needs a little fine tuning before I start the final install. The old skin came off pretty nicely, though the factory spot welds around the edges were a slight pain to deal with. A grinder, sharp chisel and patience took care of them though! I'm hoping to get the skin finished up tomorrow evening. Pics will be coming along then.

I've started with the passenger side because the door shell needed the least amount of work (basically, NONE other than the skin!). The driver's side needs some work in the back jamb so it'll be last.

Been a while since I posted in this thread.. A few months back, I rolled the front fenders on the 65. Thanks Ted (Grabber70Mach) for use of the roller.

Since then, the weather has gotten too cold and my body man has been MIA so I pushed the 65 into the corner and covered her up.

I started focusing on the 428CJ engine for my 69. I've been slowly acquiring parts and pieces to get the beast together. Had the local machine shop check the short block and heads for piece of mind. (I bought it with a rebuilt bottom end and refurbed heads). I've managed to find the time here and there to get the motor fully assembled minus a few minor parts I'm still trying to track down. After some thought, I've decided to build an engine run stand so the motor can be broken in and tuned outside the car. I want to make sure everything is right before dropping it in. Plan is to have everything ready to go and then make a weekend project of swapping the 351 for the 428. Any down time means I'll have 2 downed cars and nothing to enjoy... Not good.
A few pictures....
