What did you get done on your Stang today????

Yesterday I actually changed the oil in Shag. Could not believe I've racked another 3,500 miles on the turd.

Worked on the engine run stand some more. I got the base, engine mount and bell housing portions fitted and final welded. Hopefully tomorrow I can hang the motor on the cherry picker and set it place. Once that is done, I can drill all the necessary holes and bolt it together. Casters and radiator support will follow.

In the last couple weeks, Dad and I have been cleaning up parts and pieces and Dad's been laying down primer and black paint.

This past Sunday I took a trip to see a guy about some brakes and a rear end. I picked up a complete front disc brake setup off a 71, and an rear end for 5 lug conversion.

This guy had a ton of cars and parts. Very organized too. He posts on CL and I finally took the hour and a half drive to check it out.

Damn Brian you almost got a car again. I'm glad to see you and your dad are staying busy can't wait to see that car finished.

I got the old u-joints out and the driveshaft cleaned and ready for painting. I also got the hood latch and hood hinges degreased and ready for media blasting. After that I can phosphate them. I also did a little more work on getting the skin on the RH door. I still have to swap the vent window bracket over from the original skin before I can close it up. The reinforcing bar inside the doors has material stapled to the outside against the interior of the skin that needs to be replaced. It resembles roofing felt, so that's what I was going to use. Problem is, now I can't find my roll of roofing felt!! I had some left over from roofing my shed and I'm not gonna buy a whole roll just for a few strips. There's some new home construction in several neighborhoods in the area I work. I'm gonna try to scrounge some scraps from the roofers there. It was late in the day when I got started and too cold for me to be REALLY motivated. It's not much progress, but even a little is a little more done than the day before.

A friend came by yesterday to see what was going on with the car. Dave figured out that one of the spark plug wires was not completely connected.

After he figured that out it was pretty smooth sailing from there. Dave tuned the car and adjusted the carb. It sounds pretty good and idles nice.

I just have to wait for a decent day to road test it.

I snapped this pic, I will get a video soon.

My alternator stated squealing like a sick banshee. Replace it with a spare I had. Now it is good to go. Drove it in the rain to work today.

Did the car melt? Mine would if I drove it in any non perfect weather condition.

It did not melt. But the 355s did brake loose a few times on the wet pavement. :thu Frank acted more like a Labrador in the wet weather. It just wanted to have some fun!

Well, it was cold and rainy Saturday here in NC, so Dad and I wet sanded the primer in prep for paint when it turns warmer. We also worked few spots smoothing them out. A couple small parts got some primer and black paint. Then we spent a good amount of time cleaning the barn since its been a lot of sanding and blasting since we did it last. Color is so close I can almost see it.

Got a bunch of parts in and installed my trunk carpet.

Carpet kit is from NPD made by ACC. Made for a fastback but it don't fit fold down cars without modification. I won't go into all that but I was able to get it fit properly after cutting it up and making some of my own pieces.

I have the dash all blown apart and the evap case out. Waiting for evap and alternator to arrive then I can get busy with the other stuff I'm doing.

Got my A/C compressor, Saginaw pump for the Borgeson power steering and 99 Ford contour fan setup mocked up yesterday.

Wired up the fan controller so that it would be modular. It can come out by itself or with the radiator by unplugging 3 plugs. Have to do a little cosmetic work where I cut the factory brackets off. I used a 36 inch piece of 3/4x3/4 aluminum angle from Home Depot ($3.66) for the new brackets and riveted them to the fan housing. For those of you considering running a Contour fan, it fits the 24 inch radiator like it was made for it. I got lucky and the aluminum angle matches the radiator quite well.

Install a radio delete plate in my coupe
