What did you get done on your Stang today????

I was driving my freshly tuned Mustang last Thursday and it was running great until it died. A tow ride home was not on the agenda. I think I have found my problem. I think my coil died. Another one on the way from Summit. fingers are crossed.

I used the same handle when I did mine. Take a look in my build thread for what I did. Unless you plan to play Fast-n-Furious and utilize the brake as a driving aid the plate set-up is overkill. Most important is to get the geometry right so the cable can move properly to leverage the parking brakes.

I've read through your build, I see the handle with your amazing center console but i don't see anything about mounting the handle itself. I agree that the plates are probably overkill, maybe I can lose the top plate and keep the smaller plate on the underside to help keep everything in place and "just in case" I yank on it too hard it shouldn't snap off..

O yes, I remember seeing that now (d'oh). It does look very nice and effective. I was hoping to be able to get this to work without having modify the trans tunnel much. At least till I get the console figured out. Ideally I wanted the find a way to cut the area where the handle mounts out of the 99 mustang I got the handle from and weld that in to my tunnel.
 
Got most of my parking brake assembly done today. Should be able to test fit the cable assembly tomorrow. The only area I'm concerned with is the angle where teh cable exits the car. I notched and beveled a bolt to act as a guide. We'll see how it goes with the cable.

That's why I made that recessed section in the hump to allow the cable to follow the geometry as intended. You may find that sharp reverse angle is going to be a problem.
 
I put a new coil on my car. It fired right up after I connected the distributor plug on to the coil. It sent out a spark at least 2"! This thing has some juice now!

I spent a few hours working on my console build today. Then took the car out for a nice long hour drive, and the fuel gauge isn't working. Ugh!
 
Parking brake is looking good sir. I didn't reinforce mine beyond a small plate. I'll be digging back into it when I install this explorer rear.

Speaking of which, I got the housing on the 8.8 cleaned now that it's been shortened and I wire wheel'd and painted the brake backing plates and shock mount brackets.

It's taken too damn long to get this thing cleaned up, modified and installed, but I'm finally running out of things to do.
 
New LCAs, new roller idler arm, and a set of new strut rod bushings (replacing DPOs poly with rubber), all from Opentracker. I'll take it in for an alignment first thing in the morning - can't wait to feel the difference afterward. Roller spring perches, new UCAs, and maybe adjustable strut rods will occur and some point in the future. My LCAs were in pretty bad shape.

Just wanted to say F%$# Seam sealer. Went ahead and did some seam sealer in the corners under the dash and around my new floor pan welds, and the trunk area. I then decided to go over the underside of the car. What a pain. I'm gonna need another tube.

I was using SEM black 1K sealer if you're wondering.

The product you used is the problem. 2 part sealer is the way to go. You have to buy a special gun and the product is not cheap but the results speak for themselves. I used SEM stuff and it worked awesome. Sealer on the inside and a good bed liner on the underside and the car will last forever. Well you know what I mean.
 
Today I finally got a day off. My first one since getting back from the power tour.

Pulled the Stang out and washed all the bugs and bird crap and whatever else was on there.

The interior was filthy! It sat in a major downpour with the top down at one of the venues. One of my shirts most have bled through onto the driver's seat from the heat. It was blue! White interiors are a bitch to keep clean.

All squeaky clean now. Then I took for a nice long drive.

I have some Eastwood self leveling 2K sealer but was unsure on using that on vertical surfaces.
