What do you guys think about these gauges?

Sorry , to be honest , not my taste.

But I am a foreigner and thereby have another kind of taste.

Although I love mustangs !! Bodyparts don't fit like european cars do but mustangs look alot better.!!!

so they don't appeal to European taste or just you specifically? I think they have a certain "Classic Hot Rod" look which is probably an American thing...

I dunno, no offense but I think they look like they belong in a 30's or 40's car and not a mustang. The style of the pointers and the font just screams hot rod and not muscle, but thats merely my opinion.

Are there any quality issues with SW Maximum Performance gauges? Other than being a bit more expensive than Autometer, I'm surprised they aren't used more. The lack of mechanical speedometer may affect the use in these cars though.

The black and silver face have both backlighting through the numbers as well as perimeter lighting. The white face only has perimeter lighting, although they aren't too bad

I have Autometer Phantom gauges in my console and hate the glowing ring around the gauges. Simply put, the lighting is on par with the stock factory gauges in my dash, which sucks IMO. I'm not sure if the Classic Instruments have backlighting or not, but may be something to consider.

The Speedhut gauges are also nice but I'm not a fan of the needles pointing straight down on all of the gauges. A bit too "ricer" for me, but I guess I can be a bit opinionated at times :roll

I agree that they have a Hot Rod look, but that appeals to me. The others just look TOO modern IMO. I have "stock" or factory gauges with white faces and it looks good but I was looking for a more "retro" feel... also these are NOT very accurate.

Well , personnely I don't like them so much and secondly , it is commonly known that they are diferences in taste and opinion and so on between different cultures. What a good thing is BTW.
I must say that the americans built beautiful cars till the end of the 70's. From then on , it went worse till begin 2000 .IMHO.

I also must say that I have a set of PRO COMP ULTRA-LITE gauges laying around ready to be mounted in a new dash bezel for my fastback.
I like the racy style .FWIW

These would be nice, almost look factory but would have to be more accurate!

Yeah their website states that they were designed based off the 67/68 mustang gauges. Definitely more accurate, odd gauge size though (4 3/8"). Wish they had some illuminated pics like they do of the Redline series. I kinda like the Redlines myself.

I agree

Thanks to those that like my set-up and no offense at all taken for those who don't like the look. I went for a look that appealed to me and like where I ended up. To each their own, right. I will say, I like those Redlines too. Anybody have any experience with that manufacturer? The thing about mine was I knew they were very high quality gauges first that had the look I wanted second. Cool gauges that don't do their job aren't so cool!

I was trying to avoid a discussion as to which is better, this the Ford Chevy thing.

I still do not wish to entertain that discussion. I think Classic puts out a nice product. I was not impressed enough to put them in my cars, I used JME's clusters.

I like the billit bexel JME has as well for the 65 that is in my car and for the 67, which was not available when I put my set together.

Now, what I was getting at was indeed the quality of the cluster not the gauge. I don't really want to debate quality of gauges because I am happy with autometer and in the old days I used SW exclusively! They were almost always mechanical and never failed me.

Autometer for my applications are just fine.

Now I will not bad mouth or downgrade Classic's product, just will say that I prefer JME's product.

I don't know how much more diplomatic I can be.
