What I've been doing; what are you doing?

Hell Bent for Speed
Not much happening with my car(s) front right now. Cruising is about done for the year. The transmission will have to come back out of the ratrod. It shot craps on me. So much for it being a "good" transmission... :bomb Winter project.

Anywhoo. Since my garage time is slow, I have actually been promoting myself & my aspiring side business and have been succesful at bringing in some work. Granted it's not glorious car related work, but it's still fabrication work none the less.

I built a set of custom hand rails for a reception hall that is being renovated. Nothing real fancy, these just bolt to the floor & wall and then get a textured metal insert panel bolted to the mounting ears ( :Mark).

Supposedly I am to start fab'ing a sweet stair railing that makes (3) 90 turns, with landings, etc. leading down to the basement of the same hall.

Next I actually just made this Large wall star for the Wife, but now her friends want some too, and even bigger ones. I said, sure I can make & sell you some :thu

I actually sheared this one by hand and built a make-shift bender as well. The results were pretty good. I am looking into buying a 36" shear now though - it will lend to perfectly straight lines and make the fab time shorter & easier.

Mocked up:

Distressed & ready to be hung. It's about 36" wide from point to point.

What is everyone else up to? Seems a little slow around here lately.

Nice work---I am doing nothing but going to Doctors and rehab for heart---Started up the Mach 1 and ran some stable through it---

I really like that star! :thu

I'm doing abso-fricking-lutely nothing. :Katcof Been trying to find a job so I have play money for my '66. Haven't even stepped foot in the garage for a couple weeks. Got the under dash harness out and just waiting till I can afford to send it to Midlife. Also waiting on a headlight assembly a club guy is giving me since mine is busted. Thought about starting some body work but then I realized I need money and the right tools/supplies for that too.

Having one of those "I hate my mustang" days. :roul

I haven't been doing much to either of my cars either. Been busy with too many other things.

I have a few projects that need to get done but waiting till winter.

Heck, I haven't even driven the TA in a couple of weeks (or three weeks) and the only reason I drove the Mustang a couple of days week before last was due to her car being in the shop and her stealing my Explorer while her's was being fixed.

Taking the TA to a show this Saturday. I entered and paid the $35 but not 100% sure if I'll make it or just blow it off. Local car club show they kept twisting my arm to sign up for so I got a sense of humor and put the TA that's a work in progress in it instead of the Mustang.

Haven't worked on the car lately. I need to get off my butt and get back to tuning it. I've got a really, really flat spot at throttle tip-in. I just don't know which table or scalar to start playing with....

The only thing I've accomplished recently was brewed up a batch of beer on Sunday.

wow. you should not piss off the wife - she'll decapitate you with that giant throwing star!

nice work on the items and nice welds!

Nice work. I've actually gotten a little work done on the Mustang. Assembled the rotating assembly, measured the deck height. Next is to tear back down & transport to the machine shop. Also been fabbing the exhaust pipes between the modified shoties I have and the exhaust kit. Try to get pics tonight. Don't expect your level of welding :roll

Fixing a few things on the F250, slowly removing the 66's engine for the winter (has an oil leak) and puppy training. I get about 3-4 hrs sleep per night, although it's getting better.

I've been knocking out stuff from my list of things to do. Built a 289 for a friend and helped him install and break it in, painted a bumper for another guy, cut a shaker hole in the hood of a 69 flashback and prepped it for paint.

I have stopped taking on projects while I have others looming.

I still have a hella list to do for the boss.

I'm sure you guys noticed I haven't posted much lately...not by choice, been too busy. Can't remember the last time I even took the cover off the fastback.

Been doing work-ups, leave home this Friday, should be in Afghanistan within the next couple weeks.

I have some plans for when I get back, I want to sell the 78 F-150 and get a late 80's to early 90's F-250 diesel.

I wish I was talented!
I have been working on my new POS Expedition. It only had about a million things wrong with it. I've got it down to maybe a quarter million now.
If I had skills like Sluggo and J I would have tubbed the drag car and built a roll cage by now. I have daydreamed I built it a few hundred times and it looked pretty good too!

I've been working hard at work (both jobs). Just got the carb back from replating and rebuilding, and with Pete's help, I should fire up Mid Sat morning.

So when you get Sherriy taken care of, what's next...?

Dunno. Maybe I'll get the nod on starting the clone I've been horse sitting for a couple years now.

OK, here are the downpipes for the modified shortie headers I'm working on. Not as pretty as J's, but they are tight and solid welds. Ran out of argon, so off to the welding supply.

And here is the other project that has delayed the Mustang so long. Digging worms from the garden, he decided to have worms as pets. (yes, gratuitous kid shot, sue me.)

I haven't touched the mustang in months. Sort of hit a wall and just can't get motivated.

We just got back from California. Most of my time and energy lately has been spent trying to figure out where to move to get out of this god awful land of cheeseheads and snow. Heading to Florida next in December.
