WHITE CHRISTMAS!!!!

First one here in I think 30 years WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!! It's been snowing all day. The good wet snow that is perfect for snowmen.....which shall receive a cannon shot once it's made. Freakin' awesome.

First in Raleigh since 1947! Of course we left home before it started to go east to my parents house where we're supposed to get 6-10 inches through tomorrow. I know a lot of ya'll are from where that's nothing, but that'll shut this joint down for a while. But it'll be fun for us big kids with little kids! :yah

We got a dusting. the last time we got snow on Christmas was 6 years ago. Now down where my folks live, they got their first white Christmas in decades. My folks have never seen it snow on Christmas. It wasn't much, maybe an inch.

Dad said he was up at 4 and there was nothing on the ground, I got up at 7 and there are 3 inches already and coming down hard.

Rain is turning to snow here. Bout 25 flakes have fallen and the city is in a state of emergency! :wtf

Started around 2300 yesterday, looking at about 5-6 inches right now. Unheard of around here for kids to make two snowmen in one winter.

Went out for a quick trip to the drug store. No plowed roads, saw two near accidents. Really glad I still have that truck.

That truck is awesome. I have been looking for one but have had no luck finding one that doesnt need a lot of work.

Oh, this thing has had a lot of work. Had it 15 years though so the pain has been spread over time.

Abe there is one in Cedar City that is not too bad. It has been for sale for a while, so it will go cheap. I can check it out next time I am in town.

That is a sweet ride Craig! :wor

I dig the fact that it is lifted, but lifted with class, not too high, just enough for the 4x4 effect.

If it is in running condition and the price is right I would be interested.

Let me know Mel. Thanks

Thanks Abe, it was a "work" truck. When I got it it had a 400 but I bought another 79 (2WD F150) that had a 460 and swapped it. It had dual tanks, tilt wheel, AC, sliding rear window and a C6. It was a nice truck for it's day. I kick myself for getting rid of it. It had super swampers on it and maybe a 2" lift and the NP205 transfer case, it would go thru anything! I traded it for an 85 4x4 V6 5-speed Ranger due to gas mileage. I liked the Ranger but still miss that F250!!!

Craig, was the NP205 the part time transfer case? I think mine is a NP203, its full time 4x4, and my shfter selects hi-lo and locked for each. I locked it in hi today for the first time in probably 5 years. Not sure why I picked 5 years though, I honestly can't remember the last time I needed 4 wheel drive since I left PA 13 years ago.

Its funny how often these trucks are sold for gas mileage. I've almost gotten rid of mine 3 or 4 times now when it comes time to work on it. I always end up looking at the work done, transmission rebuild, brake job (replaced the lines and everything - rusted through), etc, etc, and ultimately decide that a $500-$1500 repair on a truck I know (owned it 15 years now, so know its service history well) is still better than spending 4-5 times that on a newer used truck with a miriad of potential problems. I was driving the truck pretty regularly but parked it about 3 years ago when gas hit $5 a gallon and bought a cheap Civic for the work commute.

Near term projects for the truck include an aluminum 4v intake and Holley carb, and aftermarket A/C. Then at some point I want to strip it down and repaint it. Right now its still the factory dark green with white roof but I'm debating painting it Highland Green to match the fastback. I actually really like the factory green color though.

My truck is sitting on factory suspension too, and I'm running 31x10.50 tires on it, and like the look. With gas mileage hovering around 10 or so, I don't think it would buy me anything to change to skinnier tires.

BTW, this is one of the better thread hijacks I've seen here, if I do say so myself.

The NP203 is chain driven and the NP205 is gear driven IIRC. The NP203 was popular during the "full-time 4WD" era and is usually associated with poorer fuel economy. NP203's are chain driven and the chain usually eventually stretches to the point of failure. The NP205 is a strength monster when compared to the NP203.

Oh, and yes, we even got some snow around here. This is 2 years in a row that we've had enough snow to call it an "accumulation".

That's right Dave, the one I have is chain driven, I had it rebuilt a few years ago when the C-6 was out for rebuild too. It may or may not have needed rebuilt at the time, but in the process of pulling it for the C-6, I decided I'm not pulling it in and out again if I can help it.

This is a good hijack! Mine was the gear driven 205 and I think it had Dana 60 axles. It was a tuff truck!

Baaaah, chump trucks. I'll take my F250, 7.3 turbo diesel, house ripping torque monster any day.
