Re: My 69 Coupe build UPDATED 12-20

Nice looking engine. Is that a CLEAR dizzy cap?

And which eccentric did you go with? 1, or 2-piece? Did it work with your current cam gear?

The PO of my car installed the wrong eccetric with his current cam gear and the eccentric ground against the inside of the timign cover and made a nasty mess of metal shavings.

Re: My 69 Coupe build UPDATED 12-20

Yea the dizzy cap is clear. Previous owner installed it.

Haven't bought a essentric yet. that's just a pic from when I pulled the old timing cover off. The previous owner installed cam so I'm not sure what size it is

Re: My 69 Coupe build UPDATED 12-20

heres a couple pics from my cam eccentric install from yesterday. I went with a 2 piece eccentric this way I didnt havve to remove my timing chain to install a longer dowel on my cam. As you can see from the pics the ear on the eccentric was a lil to long for my cam eccentric to fit flush against the timing sprocket so I made it shorter....

Re: My 69 Coupe build UPDATED 12-20

it was as far in as I could push it. I just made sure valve 1 was closed and removed the bolt off the cam and put the cam eccentric on. I was wondering if the cam dowel had to be rotated to the bottom of its rotation but Valve1 wasnt closed then so I didnt do it that way.

Does the cam dowel depth change as it rotates? Is that why it have to be bottomed out?

Re: My 69 Coupe build UPDATED 12-20

No, the pin just presses into the hole. The hole has a bottom depth. It doesn't have anything to do with any timing, etc. I'm thinking you didn't press it in all the way.

Re: My 69 Coupe build UPDATED 12-20

I just hope you didn't grind off too much of that eccentric dog ear.

Re: My 69 Coupe build UPDATED 12-20

Ill see if the dowel moves in more tonight and if the ear isnt long enough now ill just have to buy a new eccentric. I wouldnt og ground it down last night but no one responded to my post when I was doing it so I just did what I could to make it work.

Re: My 69 Coupe build UPDATED 12-20

well the dowel pin didnt move afterall. Heres some pics of the timing cover and mechanical fuel pump on. As well as the new carburetor.

Re: My 69 Coupe build UPDATED 12-20

did some more work last sunday after the all ford show in Butler NJ. I only had 6 hours over the weekend to work on the car since I went to the NY Auto show saturday and ford car show sunday. I was able to get the front end on in those 6 hours as well as organize my garage a lil.

Re: My 69 Coupe build UPDATED 12-20

Is it just me, or does your front bumper look WAY too big? It looks like it's extending past the fenders quite a bit.

Is that a 69/70 bumper?
