no it's not certified. It is just for "spirited" driving in a car with no cage. My car is currently only a 13 second car. With the mods I am doing maybe high 12's. No cage required at those speeds but I'm just looking for a little extra over the factory lap beltI don't see how it would stop your shoulders being crushed in an accident with the hard-points being below the shoulder levels. Is this certified by the NHRA? Am I missing something?
I'm sure they are not NHRA approved but at the speeds and times I am running they don't require anymore belts than what came with the car. They probably would be better than a lap belt, I just found these and they looked like an option. thought i'd get you guys input on whether they look safer or propose a hazard. I'm guessing the most likely crash would be hitting the retaining wall but if worst case scenario, the car flipped would they be safer? Would a standard 3 point type belt like a modern car be better? They make kits for those but I need to weld a nut into the roof area to install one.Don't know much about NHRA certification , but everything is better then a lap belt.
Maybe its better to mount the rear end of those belts to the package tray ??
