I would like to have a little retirement condo up by the Cape where I could watch launches from my balcony. It never gets old.

That view would be right up there with sunrises & sunsets.
Before retiring, my dad worked for Northrop to build/test the guidance systems for the shuttles and other "things" that fly.
He was able to attend a couple shuttle launches and to this day still remarks how impressive it was, especially up close.
At my days at the rocket factory I only witnessed one firing. A test of a 7 segment Titan booster. Its quite different when the rocket's blast is NOT moving away at speed. The impulses on your body is amazing at only a mile away.
