Going to try to quit smoking

A couple of my family members have quite using Chantix I believe it was. Told their physician they needed help quitting and they could use their FSA to purchase the prescription. Worked well for them.
My wife quit over 4 years ago. She tried many many times over the years. I have never smoked and I didn't like the "smell" but I tolerated it because it relieved stress.
Our company had a "program" which they included spouses and she went. They tried several things but some made her more unbearable then just cold turkey. She just couldn't do it. Then they tried Chantix. It worked for her.
Now she can't stand to be around it for long and has been healthier, less ear and sinus infections.
Like so many have said, the habit ended up being the key. She thought smoking provided some relief for stress but in reality it was just walking away to take a few minutes to calm down or stop whatever...
Good Luck and no matter what happens I think we are all proud of you and behind you!

way to go Kat!

I'll be stopping soon myself! here's a link to a stop meter

http://www.quitmeter.org/

If I have just one I'll be right back where I started, where I started was desperately wishing where I was today!

Kat,
You have been given lots of fantastic advice here. Just quit, cold turkey. No Ecigs, no gimmics. I would be extremely proud to find you a new avatar.

Craig

This. They gave me the patch in the hospital. Didn't work. Made me want a cig more. Took it off and just decided right then and there that I was done. You'll be glad after you do.

It gave my hands something to hold, and mouth something to suck on. :part

I am really surprised you have lasted this long in this forum and the usual crew around here has let the above statement slide without some sort of off color comment and / or unsolicited offers to help you with that...

Start smoking when I was 15 years young and quit smoking when I was 32.
I have been struggling with the thoughts of stop smoking and after reducing the amount of cigarettes for a few years , I found a good reason to stop. The birth of my son and having bronchitis .That was 20 years ago.
Never smoked again. In fact , I hate the smell of it .
If your mind is ready for it , you will succeed !!!

Started at 14, tried to give up a few times but nothing worked because i still enjoyed it.
At 37 i stopped dead the day the Princess said she was cutting me off unless i gave it away.
That was my incentive and i havent touched a cigarette in 14 years and am now known as the "Smoking Nazi" when i start whinging about the smell and the smoke near me.
I dont know how Bruno manages in public as it seemed to me that 90% of the population in Europe smokes and especially near food outlets. :soapboxrant

That's all the fault of those americans who brought the cigarette to europe during the war .
:stu :stu :stu
In those days men chewed tabacco overhere and spit it out.
:roll :roll :roll

Finally we have a law that prohibites smoking in bars and restaurants.
There is also a propossition that prohibites smoking in your own house when children are present.
IMO goooooood idea !!!!

I know you americans don't like regulations , but once in awhile you have to admit , it can do good to the general people.

Also healthcare !!!! :hide :hide :hide :hide :hide :hide

Yes, quitting smoking is extremely tough. I still can't stop smoking...................................................................fish :thu
