Ok, now that's frustrating.
Going to take the old strut rods off my daughter's '67 yesterday. These old strut rods are obviously original, and don't look like they've ever been off the car. So, after soaking them for a day in PB Blaster I attack them. The 1" boxed wrench is very, very slow going, and extremely energy consuming for someone that's in the middle of chemo treatments and barely has the energy to walk out to the garage.
I know, if i put a jack stand under the lower control arm, I can put a 1" deep well socket on it, with one of my big honkin' ratchets. Hell, I can even put a cheater bar on the ratchet for more leverage.
Now, I have thousands of $ of tools in my garage. My neighbors are always stunned, as they come over and ask me what's the best tool to use to do <fill in the blank>. To which, I go to a certain cabinet or peg board, hand them the best tool and say use that. (yes, my neighbors love me, because there's no need for them to buy tools, and they always bring them back right away).
So I go to the top tool chest drawer where all my deep well sockets are. Damn near every SAE and Metric size you can imagine ... except 1"! WTF? How in the world, could I not have a 1" deep well? Of course I spent more time making sure, than it would have taken to go get 50 of them.
No real point here, I'm just still stunned that I have never needed a 1" deep well socket before now.
On a side note, though, my roller upper/lower arms came from OpenTracker Racing yesterday. I cannot wait to be giving an update on my daughter's '67 soon. It's going to be an awesome ride!
