My new car!

Glad to see you two have come to a meeting of the minds and settled your minor differences..... :mid :yikes

Nick and I never had a problem. I tried giving him some advice and he ignored me. He still does.... but he does listen to me.... to some extent.

I know of a guy named Nick that could (purportedly) have that car ready to deliver to an overseas buyer NLT 20 December 2009. He works REALLY FAST!

And then you could also sell it for only the measly sum of $109K. :kaid

Nice job hijacking Dne's post guys! :conf

It should come as no surprise that the derailment can be traced straight back to Mark. Mark started it Boss.... like lemmings we just fell in behind him.

My bad, but you have to admit...it's hard not to when Craig says what he says.

Actually, this post could be a record ... didn't get derailed until page 2!

of course you may ride!

Of course you can ride in it, you can drive it, but! ~ I need to replace the gas tank/sender unit first, and I'm in the process of ordering power/4wheel disc brakes for it! From what I've learned from my '67 stang(and from the Stangfix gang :wor)~ I know what I want for sure this time! Just still shopping! Then the aftermarket radio has to be replaced for sure! I think I want the brake system from POL, a little pricey(1400), but should get the job done without running down to Ace hardware! The Sluggo, I'll come over and we'll head down 77 Sunset strip :hug2!!
oh, forgot to mention, this classic is at our lakehome on Conroe, not in Houston. When I get it road worthy, it will be getting driven back n forth from there to here and etc! lol

I'm wondering if we have ANY threads that have not been derailed...

Oh and yes DNE' sorry for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, uh I mean the derailment of this thread.

Congrats....had a 57 Chevy Belair 2dr HT project car in college.
Turned out to be a real rust bucket so I sold it.
LOVE those cars.

it's in pretty good shape

This '57 has a little rust here and there, but nothing tremendously bad. As best I could tell, it has the original floor pans and look to be in good condition. I'll be able to tell more tomorrow when I get it jacked up and crawl beneath it for a better look. I think it's the interior I'm unsure of, it's said to be original, and kind of looks original, but in 50something years, I'm surprised it would be in the good condition it's in! I'll get some better photos of it tomorrow, my camera batteries die at the most inconvenient times!
I can't wait to get the brakes on it, and gas tank, and drive it! It is so cool to drive! Not a hotrod, but just a feel of what of it have been like behind the wheel in 1957. The dash is so antique looking! However, the 350 runs very well!

another pic

I was looking through my Iphone and found a nice shot of my '57. That's its new home at our lakehome. But I'll be bringing it back to Houston frequently after the mods. Besides, Sluggo wants to cruise around in it! :mj

I've somehow missed this post until now but sweet ride!

When I was in high school I had a buddy that had a '57 that would run give / take 12 in the quarter...his older brother had a '55 hot rod as well....great cars!

Dne',

Be careful with inspecting the car too carefully. It's a pretty car that is fun to drive! ..... okay, aside from the old non-power drum brakes.

Why ruin that feeling with close scrutinization?

There are times when I wish I was "car ignorant" and just drove and enjoyed cars. Instead, I (we all) look at every minor unacceptable detail and develop a plan to correct it. Oftentimes we work ourselves into the notion that because the car isn't "perfect", we can't enjoy it.

For instance, instead of replacing the gas tank/sending unit.... just top the tank off every 100 or so miles.

Once you start down the "I need to fix this" road, it's difficult to get off of it.

I agree with Dave :yikes.... The "while i'm at" syndrome is worse than the swine flu......

Noticing a small transmission leak coupled with the "while I'm at it" syndrome is exactly why my car still isn't back up and running...well that plus the idea of "while we're doing that might as well replace the torque converter" kind of thing.....
