Of course you can ride in it, you can drive it, but! ~ I need to replace the gas tank/sender unit first, and I'm in the process of ordering power/4wheel disc brakes for it! From what I've learned from my '67 stang(and from the Stangfix gang :wor)~ I know what I want for sure this time! Just still shopping! Then the aftermarket radio has to be replaced for sure! I think I want the brake system from POL, a little pricey(1400), but should get the job done without running down to Ace hardware! The Sluggo, I'll come over and we'll head down 77 Sunset strip :hug2!!
oh, forgot to mention, this classic is at our lakehome on Conroe, not in Houston. When I get it road worthy, it will be getting driven back n forth from there to here and etc! lol

Congrats....had a 57 Chevy Belair 2dr HT project car in college.
Turned out to be a real rust bucket so I sold it.

This '57 has a little rust here and there, but nothing tremendously bad. As best I could tell, it has the original floor pans and look to be in good condition. I'll be able to tell more tomorrow when I get it jacked up and crawl beneath it for a better look. I think it's the interior I'm unsure of, it's said to be original, and kind of looks original, but in 50something years, I'm surprised it would be in the good condition it's in! I'll get some better photos of it tomorrow, my camera batteries die at the most inconvenient times!

I was looking through my Iphone and found a nice shot of my '57. That's its new home at our lakehome. But I'll be bringing it back to Houston frequently after the mods. Besides, Sluggo wants to cruise around in it! :mj

Be careful with inspecting the car too carefully. It's a pretty car that is fun to drive! ..... okay, aside from the old non-power drum brakes.
Why ruin that feeling with close scrutinization?
There are times when I wish I was "car ignorant" and just drove and enjoyed cars. Instead, I (we all) look at every minor unacceptable detail and develop a plan to correct it. Oftentimes we work ourselves into the notion that because the car isn't "perfect", we can't enjoy it.
For instance, instead of replacing the gas tank/sending unit.... just top the tank off every 100 or so miles.
Once you start down the "I need to fix this" road, it's difficult to get off of it.

I agree with Dave :yikes.... The "while i'm at" syndrome is worse than the swine flu......
