Hello to my fellow Mustangers. I stumbled upon this forum a few days ago but just now registered. My story is not all that unusual. A life long Blue Oval guy but unable to own anything besides our DD's. After the kids were out of high school and college and the bathrooms were remodeled and the kitchen was remodeled it was time to start on the Mach 1 that had been bought 11 years previously. It sat, undisturbed, in the garage waiting for some attention. Now, 2 1/2 years later the restoration is all but done. I am now driving it for the first time after owning it for 13 1/2 years. I don't have the talent or the equipment to do such a project so the entire job was hired out to someone that is qualified. Down to a bare shell and back to a glorious Candy Apple Red is a huge transformation. Checking for squeaks, rattles and anything that needs replaced or adjusted at this point. My Mach is a R-code 4 speed and what a blast to drive. I have not yet pushed the engine much beyond 3500 rpm as I have only put about 180 miles on the rebuilt engine. The only engine mod is a +.030 overbore and a Comp Cams Thumper series bumpstick. Brutal amount of torque. I like the mostly stock look and tried to keep it that way. Good luck to you all. Hope to be able to learn from this forum and possibly inject a little knowledge. Yes, my finger was in the way in this pic. This pic was taken before the painter did the blackout on the cowl. Dave R.
