New guy in SW Ohio

Hello to my fellow Mustangers. I stumbled upon this forum a few days ago but just now registered. My story is not all that unusual. A life long Blue Oval guy but unable to own anything besides our DD's. After the kids were out of high school and college and the bathrooms were remodeled and the kitchen was remodeled it was time to start on the Mach 1 that had been bought 11 years previously. It sat, undisturbed, in the garage waiting for some attention. Now, 2 1/2 years later the restoration is all but done. I am now driving it for the first time after owning it for 13 1/2 years. I don't have the talent or the equipment to do such a project so the entire job was hired out to someone that is qualified. Down to a bare shell and back to a glorious Candy Apple Red is a huge transformation. Checking for squeaks, rattles and anything that needs replaced or adjusted at this point. My Mach is a R-code 4 speed and what a blast to drive. I have not yet pushed the engine much beyond 3500 rpm as I have only put about 180 miles on the rebuilt engine. The only engine mod is a +.030 overbore and a Comp Cams Thumper series bumpstick. Brutal amount of torque. I like the mostly stock look and tried to keep it that way. Good luck to you all. Hope to be able to learn from this forum and possibly inject a little knowledge. Yes, my finger was in the way in this pic. This pic was taken before the painter did the blackout on the cowl. That Mach 1 is soooo sweet! And an R-code to boot! Droool!

Welcome from Panama City, FL.

+1 on what Randy said. Get us some more pics when you get the chance. Where are you from?

From infinity and beyond.

Never argue with a Moron, they'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

IMG_0207.JPG IMG_0216.JPG Gentlemen, thank you one and all. The car has turned out to be a beautiful piece. The assortment of 'stangs in these replies is quite impressive also. GT, Mach. Nothing like a classic Mustang no matter what clothing it wears. Am I right? Thanks guys. Dave R. (Not sure that I did these pics the right way.) I live in Fairfield, Ohio. The Greater Cincinnati area.

I guess that the '69 is also my favorite but not by much. First year for the Mach 1 is the biggest reason for me I think. If I had to pick another year car for my next one I am not sure which one it would be. Tough choice. Dave R.

My wants me to finish our 65, touch up the 67, sell them and get a 69. Her favorite year now. When I bought her 67 that was her favorite.

Yours is an excellent specimen of a 69! I am drooling all over my phone!

Mel, you didn't expect her to be happy forever did you? I love the early 'stangs in particular. Thanks for your kind words. It has been a long journey. Mine is having the steering box replaced today. Expected to hear from my guy by now. I'm not sure if that is a good sign or not. Good luck Mel. Dave R.
