most of the car is azure blue, and now i'm trying to put it together w/o scratching it. feels like i'm defusing a bomb.

That's purty too!!

I got a stock 5.0 coil bracket and remounted the coil. The home made bracket I had looked like poo, so I threw it out. The punch list is getting smaller.

Thanks, guys! Makes me want to get one of those tiny dome air cleaners just so this thing will be visible. There are a few more pics of it in my build thread (see sig).

That is freakin beautiful. I would be scared as shit trying to bolt anything on.

Took the cover off & looked at it for the first time in 5 months. :wtf

Stuck the battery in it, cranked it for 30 seconds to get some fuel to the carb.

Pumped the pedal 3 times, cranked it again. Fired right up. Went on a good cruise during a gorgeous evening here in MD.

It was a needed break from the car, but good to be back in it.

FYI, instead of cranking for extended times, you can pour fuel directly into the air vents and fill the bowls up pre-starting. Then, it only takes a revolution to light it off.

At least that's what I do with my Holley 4150, 650DP.

Actually, wanted to crank it for some time on purpose to build some O/P instead of lighting it off right away after 5 months of sitting.

I like your thinking though :thu, I was kind of misleading in my OG post.

Couple days late, but... I drove my 10 year old boy to his baseball practice in the Mustang last Sunday. The temp was in the low 70's and put the top down for the 20 minute drive. It was really the first time that I've taken the car out for a pleasure ride and she did great.

Really, really loud.. but it sounds awesome. I'm still not to the point where I can relax yet; when you literally take EVERYTHING apart and reassemble it, you're sure to miss something. :steer

All being said, after 2-1/2 years it's so nice to have her on the road.

I finished wiring up the 3g alternator. Installed the fuse on the shock tower and soldered up the positive wires.

Rewired the voltage regulator and alternator with some better connectors purchased from Milife.

Thanks Mid!

All is well but the gauge still does not work. I'll pull the cluster and check the connections there.

spent the day cutting & welding. welded in one of the tower support plates:

cut out a bad section under the battery box where acid ate it up & grafted in a new piece. i did this instead of replacing the whole panel as the repop didn't have the crisp lines /edges like the original & i also was able to retain the original number stampings & spot welds. still have some grinding & metal finishing to do, but will be an invisible repair when finished.

Filled the car with gas, drove 25 miles to Cars and Coffee in Plano,TX, Hung out with KO67. Who could ask for more?

Finished up the wiring repairs to the voltage regulator and alternator, fixed the wire from the solenoid to the starter solenoid on the mini starter, got the ammeter working after consulting with Mid and discovering that two wires were swapped in the replacement regulator connector I soldered on yesterday, restriped both sides with custom mach1 stripes in matte black instead of semigloss, (looks way better) removed rear stripes permanently, replaced front and rear side marker bulbs with LEDs, ordered LEDs for the cluster and clock and brought the cluster home to spiff it up while I wait for the bulbs. With any luck the cluster and the dash pad will not come out of the car again. The pad is a near perfect original. I get a little paranoid each time it comes out.

Also fixed a nasty creaking noise in the rear that turned out to be the u-bolts on the rear end needing to be retightened.

Clay-barred my coupe today so I can wax it tomorrow. Also got the trunk detailed and ready for the Utah National. Had to spend more than an hour cleaning the mold release agent off of the spare tire. What a mess! And the tire is not new. I guess the heat in the garage brought it out again.

djee man , you are all so busy !!! Its too cold outside for me to work on the stang.
