What did you get done on your Stang today????

got a coat of epoxy primer shot on the outsides of my aprons tonight.

also spent some time yesterday on the power steering setup. soaked it down with degreaser, then took it to the car wash for a steam cleaning. finished up the cleaning today & shot a little paint on it.

If it is blowby, your PCV valve may be clogged or you have excessive pressure (blow-by) in the engine. A clogged breather cap shouldn't be leaking: it's a source of fresh air into the engine crankcase.

I didn't see it when I noticed the smoke. When I turned the car off, and looked at where the smoke was coming from, I just noticed it was wet and looked/felt like oil and it was slightly brownish color when I took a paper towel and wiped it off. There is no oil puddle on the floor under the car so I guess it's not any kind of major leaking.


and yes, it has roller rockers.

According to those guys, M/T valve covers (which I have) don't have baffles and I don't think there's room for them in the M/T covers.
 
You need taller valve covers with baffles to fix your issue. Otherwise you will always have an oily mess under your hood.

Without baffles, you had leaks. Maybe it was dirty enough you didn't notice? ALso, with header wrap, if would have to get pretty saturated before you would see smoking like you did recently.

Those spacers will will increase the gap between the cover than the rockers but they will also give you another place for leaking. You would still need to find a way to install baffles in the current VCs. Just get a set of tall covers made for roller rockers. Easier and less $.
 
Today got the rear of the car jacked way up, drive shaft off, nuts off diff., tomorrow I'll pull axles and diff. and install new/rebuilt one. Better MPG's for the Power Tour.

3:00 trac lock for the Power Tour.

Test drive complete, everything sounds good (or no sounds) and I can now wear out my rear tires equally. :pbj
Have to recalibrate the speedometer tomorrow, a simple process with it being electronic.

I had a few minutes to spare today between baseball practices and was able to get the old pilot bearing out using the crappy rental tools from Autozone.. of course the parts that I needed from their box are long gone, so I spent a hour rigging up a way to get that bearing out.

Anyway I got the new pilot bearing in. Most of the new parts have arrived. According to the UPS website, the rest of my loot should be in tomorrow just in time to install the new clutch over the weekend. Hopefully by Sunday, I'll have the old girl up and running again. Maybe this time, I'll be able to install the transmission without tearing something up. :thu

Tore out the transmission, clutch and PP, learned that.. apparently, I have no clue about how to install a manual transmission because I destroyed the pilot bearing the first time. This had the result of trashing the clutch and PP. The flywheel should be OK once I get it resurfaced.

I've already ordered the parts to fix her.. along with a new clutch fork and pivot stud. I'm hoping that everything will be in by next weekend so I can put everything back together.

Went through exactly the same thing recently. My first attempt at installing the TKO did not go well. I was a bit luckier than you, it only cost me a throw out bearing and a clutch fork. Bolting the bellhousing on first then the transmission didn't work well for me, the angle in which I slid in the transmission was too steep. I ended up screwing up the clutch fork and 800 miles later my throw out bearing failed and had to do it over again. The second time I cut the heads off some bolts and installed them into the engine block and used them to guide the transmission/bellhousing assembly into place together. This eliminates the possibility of throwing something out of whack inside the bellhousing during install. I'm back on the road and it is shifting so much better and the clutch action is way smoother (cable). It made a huge difference and I know it will last. Good luck, sweet car!
