What did you get done on your Stang today????

Got the Cobra Jet painted on my fenders last night. I can't wait to peel the tape today. I will post pics of it later. Getting it ready for the Nostalgia Drags.

Huh? You need to have a safety inspection for an old Mustang? :wtf
Yep, I have the car registered as a classic too. Any Car not registered as an antique needs to pass a yearly inspection. It is emissions exempt however.

The reason i went with a classic plate instead of antique, is b/c the antique need to be parked after dusk. If the street lights are on, they are not permitted on the road.

I got the cowl hood done two years later. I've meant to put a grill or screen in the opening both to stop any debris and to also keep some vibrations down to a minimum. After a few weeks of screwing with aluminum, I found some expanded steel that worked great.

didn't do much today on the car. took pics of the original grease pencil markings on the core support before they get covered in new paint. figured it might be handy to have documented someday...

All four tires on the ground waiting for a test drive. :yah
3:00 trac lock for the Power Tour.

Test drive complete, everything sounds good (or no sounds) and I can now wear out my rear tires equally. :pbj
Have to recalibrate the speedometer tomorrow, a simple process with it being electronic.

Look into a Gear Vendors overdrive. Best extra I have added to my car. It's like having a 5 speed but bullet proof behind my toploader. Not quite as efficient as a true five speed but I love it!!

Today I finished up installing my power antenna

When I was finishing the car I patched the hole in the front fender thinking I was going to go with a hidden antenna, that didn't work, poor reception. I like it where it is now.

Looks like you need more clearance in the garage...man: that's one tight fit!

Midlife, Just looks tight, I can actually walk, sideways, around the back there and I have more room in the front.

I had a few minutes to spare today between baseball practices and was able to get the old pilot bearing out using the crappy rental tools from Autozone.. of course the parts that I needed from their box are long gone, so I spent a hour rigging up a way to get that bearing out.

Anyway I got the new pilot bearing in. Most of the new parts have arrived. According to the UPS website, the rest of my loot should be in tomorrow just in time to install the new clutch over the weekend. Hopefully by Sunday, I'll have the old girl up and running again. Maybe this time, I'll be able to install the transmission without tearing something up. :thu

I got the transmission installed today. I tried to use the guide bolt method, but for some reason I couldn't get the transmission in. I ended up installing the bellhousing and then attempting to slide the transmission onto that. Still no luck. I finally got the big idea to use a clamp to engage the clutch and the the transmission slide right into place with no resistance.

I did notice that the new clutch fork is a about 1/2" longer than the old fork.. not sure how that's going to change things, but the slave cylinder push rod for the hydraulic clutch fits in the fork better.

I still need to bolt the shifter back in and tighten everything up, install the driveshaft, fill it full of oil, and install the exhaust back and we'll be ready for a test drive.

Let's hope everything works this time! :hs

Looks great. That's the same spot I have my power antenna on Shag. The real question is how many hours did you spend adjusting both the back and side angle so it looks awesome when it's in use?

we need pics!!!!

Larry, that car is sweet, I may have to do the antenna thing too, I have a hidden one that is useless (not that there are any decent radio stations in Kentucky anyway).
J, I forgot how big that scoop is!!!

Does research count as getting stuff done on the Mustang? Well I think so. I was at my parents home last evening visiting and looking through Dad's garage. Mom has been wanting me to take tools and other things. I found some info on the last 3 oil changes Dad did to his vert. Mom showed me the file of receipts for the cars. Dad paid 1730 for his vert in 1978 and I paid 500 dollars for my coupe in 1974. But the biggest thing that I took possession of was the pink slip on my coupe, aka the title of the vehicle. It is in my name and always has been, just Mom has had it in her safe all these years. Just still looking for some mileage information on Dad's vert. Since November of 07 it has been driven about 1450 miles. Trying to find out if the original mileage was written down anywhere, Dad put another instrument cluster in his vert and did not change the odometer.

I washed my Mustang... it had to sit out side because I worked on my "piece of crap" (POC) Expedition all day yesterday. The factory moon roof does not work, it gets stuck open. It rained so I put the Expedition in the garage. I had the whole interior apart and the glass out of it. I found lots of broken stuff. Ford says I will have to buy a whole assembly for $900!!! they do not sell the parts I need individually. So I just put it back together and unplugged the motor so it won't get stuck open. The whole truck isn't worth $900!
