What did you get done on your Stang today????

fix my temp gauge - ran a new wire. Drove it to work to test out the new AC.

It got colder than I wanted it, which is good.

Finally found time to chase my fuel gauge problem. Drained the tank, pulled the 2 year old sender and found a float full of gas. CJ Pony is sending me a brass float free of charge.

Still have to take off the fire department stickers, Here is Pa and his "new" truck

3M makes a little wheel that fits in a high speed drill that will take those off IMO without damage to the paint. It's like a bunch of little rubber disc. Thought I'd pass that along if you didn't know about it.

those work good on narrow stripes. I would try the trusty old heat gun & see if it will heat and peel first. there is also an aerosol that is made for removing the wide stuff like woodgrain panels on station wagons (& PT Cruisers)

Had to call in some special help to test the levitating pods. After some weight recalculations I was able to achieve a neutral balance. Can't imagine what it would be like telling the police that my daughter floated away in a prototype vintage Mustang.

Made a little time between jobs in the shop today. I got the new brass float installed on the fuel sender and back in the tank. I noticed a little gear oil on the brake backing plate so I popped the axle and replaced the seal and cleaned the shoes and drum. I've also always notice some oil on the transmission. Appeared to be coming from the speedometer cable. So I removed that and replaced the o-ring.

Sigh.... one step forward, two steps back! While trying to finish a little cleaning and sanding prior to getting some primer down, I found some pin holes of rust in the top of the right trunk floor near the spare tire hold down. Sheesh! I got most of the patch in and of course, ran out of both wire and gas for the Mig! At least both went at once so I could refill everything in one trip!

Stuck a modular in the engine bay. Not to happy with the location so I'm gonna move the firewall back and make it all even. That should give me about 4 inches more to move the engine to the rear.

Pulled the engine out of the yellow car.
It seems to have previously undetected collision damage that was fixed poorly. Going to try to move the upper control arm mounting point inward about 3/8 so I can set the camber. If I can't move it, I'll have to replace the shock tower.

Success in moving the shock tower. Port-a-power pulling and a little heat brought it in. Engine back in and all is well. Need to bolt on some front body panels and some interior trim stuff. I'll drive it this summer in it's faded yellow and black e-coated glory.

That'll work... I went even with the pedal mount... it required moving the heater box back, and ended up making a custom fan housing to go between the heater box and plenum. Are you planning to maintain the heater / defroster?

No, not the stock one, the electric motor is in the way. Thinking about your suggestion.

Yesterday I got the patch finished in the trunk so today I moved up to the front. Tons of fun media blasting! :sarc

I got just about the entire engine compartment blasted and just have to do the undersides of the frame rails and outside area. Primer tomorrow after I finish (and pics too)!

Drove the turd to the coast for some artichoke soup and crab sandwich.

I dusted off the cobwebs and drove it to get some gas. Once I got her warmed up I did a burnout while going 35. Man I love boost!

I gave my coupe a bath today after she has been couped up all winter collecting dust. Taking her to a memorial car show for a fallen police officer in our area May 26.

Washed it ...then our club took a cruise over to the Atlantic this morning... Spring has finally come to the North east...

My son came over today and helped out at TON with the coupe. I got the media blasting finished up for the engine compartment and then we got down to cleaning up all the blasting media. Between the two of us it took several hours to do that. Thank goodness I masked off the interior to help keep media out of there as much as possible!

After a good cleanup we got down to sanding and scuffing for primer. After several hours of that, the entire trunk, interior and engine compartment were ready for a final wipe down. I decided to delay eating dinner and finished up the wipe down with some prep-sol. I was finally losing daylight when I got the primer mixed and ready to shoot. The trunk, interior and engine compartment are all now one solid color since I bought the car (albeit it gray primer!). Progress is finally visible again!!!

It seems like it's been years since I got some visual gratification of a completed project with the car (it's not really been that long, just seems that way!). I know I said I'd have pics, but loss of daylight screwed that up. I'll try to post some tomorrow night if I get home from work before the sun is gone.
