Had to rebuild my carburetors today. Damn it was dirty!! They are saying now that the gas formulated for California is not great for the gaskets they use carburetors. Supposedly I'll have to rebuild it every 6 months since I drive everyday. We'll see.. The last time I rebuilt it was 2 years ago, so it's not to bad. I usually have to rebuild every other year and use a wix fuel filter also.

Found the oil leak in my dark blue coupe. The reusable rubber gasket blew out at a corner. Second time one of these rubber gaskets as done that. I glued in a cork gasket and so far, no leak.
Next up - the rear main seal and the transmission leak on the other coupe.

Stole a bit of time over the weekend to do some assembly on the new 9 inch rear. Got the modified backing plates finished so I could proceed. Sanded the housing down to bare metal and repainted it (chassis black paint). Same for the third member case. Used my Dremel and a small diameter cut-off wheel to removed the old bearings and bands. Had new ones pressed on ($25 total a lot cheaper than buying a press to do it myself!).
The housing I picked up had sealed ball bearings instead of the newer A20 style. Given the planned use for my car I didn't see a need to have the axles machined for the different seal surface requirements. I kept the inner seal and used new sealed bearings.
Still need to drill out the brake hub/rotors (installing Wilwood brakes with e-brake hidden in rotor hub) for larger shouldered wheel lugs. Have a properly sized drill on order that should arrive this week.
Overall very happy with how it came together. Can't wait to mock it up in place and take wheel measurements!

Pulled the manual transmission out of the Mach 1 this weekend, got the bellhousing out today (only had about an hour to play with before work).
Only thing left now is to remove the clutch/pp, flywheel and the pilot bearing out of the crank. Then the auto install begins.
Hope to be done before the 28th (James Dean spring run).

I measured my coil overs so that I can order some new JRI coil overs. 
. I am also expecting a new Megasquirt competent to arrive tomorrow. I am soooooo tired of surging my surging idle. I hope this takes care of that.
By the end of the summer I hope to have a car that handles and runs as good as it looks.

Got the clutch/pp, flywheel and pilot bearing out this morning.
For anyone who doesn't feel like wasting time fighting with the pilot bearing puller, rent a blind hole puller from Autozone... it took longer to get the thing set up on the bearing than it did to get the bearing out of the crank.

I tried twice to redo my rear main seal on my Diamond Blue coupe but it still leaked. I took to a shop last week and they finally got it. They said it also took them two time to get it to stop leaking. I also had them re-charge the AC. Picked it up today and had fun driving to work with the cool AC. Hope to see no more oil puddles tomorrow.

I am tired of smelling gas in my garage so I put one of these tank/differential filters on my car yesterday. I hope it keeps the Mrs. happy. It was my Father's Day present. :thum I learned about it over on Pro-touring.com.
