What to do now Dave... **UPDATED** with pics! (be warned...)

Hell Bent for Speed
Dave,

Back in mid January of 2010 I was fast away, working in the garage, on the truck cab for my rat rod. I was actually in the process of chopping the cab -- as seen here:

http://www.stangfix.com/testforum/index.php/topic,3819.msg59664.html#msg59664

You may notice in some of the pictures the cab is sitting on 2 wheel dollies. During the cutting, welding & grinding process, an excessive amount of debris had accumulated on the garage floor. Upon rolling the mobile cab around, the casters of one dolley became lodged in an awkard position, thus staying in place, and letting the cab slide off while I pushed the it around. Seeing the problem, I stepped inside the cab and proceeded to kick the dolly back into position under the cab. Upon kick #3, I kick slightly too low and catch the bottom of the dolley with, what would be, the edge/top of my big toenail. Son of a.... that stung. But I did not bother to stop working nor inspect anything. Jump ahead to that night upon removing my shoe, i find a rather bloody sock. Son of a... now I have to throw away a perfectly good pair of socks. And the toe looks pretty gnarly too. All red and blue under the nail.

Fast forward ahead 3 months to last night. While sitting on the crapper, thumbing through the Speedway catalog, I notice the gnarly nail only looks half as gnarly now... WTF, that's odd. Upon further inspection... the nail is totally coming off and has lifted up halfway - but still attached on the other side. Pretty cool. Like it's on a hinge.

My question is - should I take pictures to comply with the: :WOP rule?

Re: What to do now Dave...

Well, IMO...you should take pics, then man up and remove it with pliers.

Dude....your GF is a HOSPICE nurse, use your imagination.... then post the video

Fixed it fer'ya. Hope I don't need THAT type of nurse for this situation.

Re: What to do now Dave...

Dude, pics. Pics of the gnarly toenail and, if you feel the need, a pic of a nurse (not gonna specify Bonnie) pulling the toenail off while wearing one of those loose fitting scrub tops.

Re: What to do now Dave...

Pull it off. Take pictures of the process... just not while you're sitting on the crapper please.

If it's at the "hinge" phase, that suckers ready to come off. Pliers shouldn't be necessary, but soaking your foot in warm/hot water for 10 minutes prior to the extraction will loosen all of that dead skin to ease the removal process. It may bleed a little bit, but you'll be fine.

If you're going to post pictures of Bonnie, save us the trouble of photoshopping and make sure your ugly arse ain't in the photo.

Re: What to do now Dave...

A tip for nail removal: wrap the base of the toe with a rubber band to cut off circulation, then cut or remove the nail off. You won't feel a thing until you remove the rubber band. Been there, done that.

Nothing said in the above quote sounds even remotely good. Baaaaaad all the way around. Just pull the damn thing off, drop it in a bottle of Mezcal and send it off to a fellow stangfixer who needs to man up for some reason!

Re: What to do now Dave...

Oh I've got one helluva funny story. I go to the beach for a golfing trip every year with the same group of guys. Well, one guy tends to make friends with some ladies all the time, gets numbers, texts like hell, gets busted, yada yada yada. It happens around home also. Anyway he busts up his toe in a football game one time and ends up losing a toenail. Whines about it forever. I'm talking a year. Everybody gets sick and tired of hearing about it. One of the other guys that is in the golfing group ends up busting his little toe up, drains the blood from under the nail by "boring" it with a knife and ends up losing his toenail. Keep in mind everyone is still hearing about guy #1's toenail that happened the year before....not long after getting caught in a situation. Without thinking, guy #2 puts his toenail in an envelope, writes "I know what you did last summer" on the outside of the envelope (referencing the toenail) and drops it in guy number #1's mailbox. Guy #1 is sitting at home that night when the wife walks in and tells him he got a letter in the mail. Let's just say she opened it, saw the nail with a pinhole in it, assumed it was a ladies fingernail that had been pierced (I guess women put doodads in their fingernails or something) and was thinking he had "done something forceful" along the lines of rape and was being stalked. The shi1 was CRAZY. Guy #1 ends up calling guy #2 a couple days later and is telling of the mysterious envelope, the wife's response, trying to figure out what was going on, trying to convince the wife nothing "forceful" ever happened (pretty bad you have to convince your wife of that), etc. Guy #2 listens on the phone, says "It's the little toe toenail", and hangs up the phone before he gets raked over the coals. Yeah, freakin crazy I tell 'ya and yes, all of us still go to the beach for some golf and drinking once a year.

Re: What to do now Dave...

I drove the Mustang today, and in my haste, left the damn camera at home (with the pics on it) on the kitchen table. I'll have to do it tonight.

Re: What to do now Dave...

I drove mine today also and was gonna take a pic for Jake and Mark but the sun wouldn't let the pic show up. I had a luzer in front of me.
