Pretty cool that Pete helped you out with the stance, even back then!

First, drove my parent's 1973 Mercury Colony Park. That car could do burn outs loaded with high school kids,

Secondly, on occasion, I'd get to work on my neighbors 1967 Dodge pickup with an industrial 360 in it. It had sodium filled valves and I got to hear all about it at 110 dB when my instructor caught me grinding them on a standard valve grinder (sodium filled valves can explode on a standard valve grinding wheel).

Thirdly, the 1965 Corvair Monza my father bought for $150.00 to rip the trans out to put in his 1962 Monza wagon. When my dad got the car home, it only had 65k miles on it (in 1978), and the interior was immaculate, my mother told him 'That's for the boys to drive and fix up'. I painted that car a year later.

I then escaped from high school and 2 years later bought my Mustang.....

Nothing.....took public transportation, da bus.

Now....I get to work via...public transportation, da bus.

But I use my allotment of gas when I drive the '67. :thu

1982 Datsun 310 handed down from the parents. Bought my mustang 5 months after I turned 16 but kept driving the Datsun. That car went through a lot.

My parents got divorced shortly after I turned 16 (1968), and I had to get a car to drive to school, as my mother moved out of the HS district. So...off to the various car dealerships! I wanted a 65 GTO 6V, only $1200, but 'rents said no. Then I saw a great 64 Corvair van, but 'rents said no once again. A friend had a 65 Mustang GT for sale at $900, and that was it. I drove it until 1978 when it was totaled by being rear-ended by a 46 Willys Jeep.

Not a thread for cars in your 50's. It's about HS cars, which would have been a horse & buggy for Ewe.

That is an easy question to answer.

Grew up poor and wasn't able to get my license till I was 18. I bought a 79 BMW 733i for $250 and spent another $200 fixing a sheared off harmonic balancer.

Sold it after my first year of college to pay for summer tuition. Bought a 94 Mazda 323 from my dad for 450... he had paid 250 for it.

I grew up in Alaska so everything had rust holes the size of your fist. My first car that I could legally drive was a 1976 Lincold Continental. I owned 5 cars before I turned 16. I was working my way up to a 1970 Mach 1. My oldest sister totaled an S10 I just finished repainting the day before I turned 16. Had it sold and ready to buy the Mustang. Plans changed and I had to start over.

I usually drove nothing during HS. Public Transportation was my freedom. Parents let me take their 91 Escort when I was a sophomore college and I bought my first Mustang the same year. Made for some fun summers during college even if it was a piece.

Junior year i drove my beloved "Thomas" the Train 86 Crown vic with no exhaust, Drove like a dream- and for some reason the girls in my class really liked it?? Then upgraded to a rusty POS im trying to fix right now...

I started out with a 74 Pinto donated by my dad when I was 16. I then moved on to my 1st real car, a 71 Buick GS350 convertible. After that I found my way to my 1st Mustang a 69 Mach 1 w/ 428CJ & 4 speed that I bought my senior year.

Started driving my dad's 75 Chevy Cheyenne as soon as I got my license. Shortly after that, they bought me an 87 jeep comanche, which I paid them back for. Drove the piss out of it until my senior year, when I sold it and got a 90 240sx.
