"Midlife" said:My parents got divorced shortly after I turned 16 (1968), and I had to get a car to drive to school, as my mother moved out of the HS district. So...off to the various car dealerships! I wanted a 65 GTO 6V, only $1200, but 'rents said no. Then I saw a great 64 Corvair van, but 'rents said no once again. A friend had a 65 Mustang GT for sale at $900, and that was it. I drove it until 1978 when it was totaled by being rear-ended by a 46 Willys Jeep.
