I wonder what his idea of 'minimal rust' is?

or this one and it's 'little rust'!

This one looks pretty interesting!!! Sounds as if he did the body work and all the hard stuff and now it's just a matter of piecing the car back together. I don't need the motor and tranny, but it comes with a welding machine!! LOL

of course for a little less you got this one. Check out that paint job! That would turn some heads! :beer

It was my husbands idea, as well as a few car club guys who've seen Gert and what shape she's really in, to find a different mustang in need of less repairs than Gert. They all brought it up about maybe finding a shell that has body work done and use Gert as a parts car to rebuild the shell. I figure since these guys have restored cars from the ground up, they have a better idea of how/what to spend $ on that I do. Hubby is the one who said he'd rather spend $ on something worth it - fastback, Mach, Boss, stuff besides a 'boring coupe' as he calls Gertie. It was also his idea to get me a different car and sell my Sebring.
Of all those, the first one (fastback) would be the most intriguing to me. If he has all the pieces it is probably a better deal than the coupe simply because of the finished values. The new suspension and stuff in the coupe ad looks like stock parts so its only a few hundred bucks to buy. Picking up an early fastback that isn't a total basket case for around $6k is a really good deal.

There you go. You cant get a quality paint job for that price. If the work was done right, you cant go wrong. All Gerts parts would bolt right up.

+1

Even if the work wasn't done right, you'll at least get several years if not more out of it before the problems show up. I had a cheapo paint job full of bondo on my fastback for 3-4 years before the bondo started cracking, and even then, still drove it another 5-6 years after that and it still looked decent as a 20 footer.

Looks like a great deal. Now, if only you had a peppy engine to put in it! :roll

Tempting, but I don't want red and would end up paying to get it repainted a metallic gray.
Dare I suggest you could always get this one, put it together and then sell it for a profit and then buy your gray one? Odds are, however, you would end up liking and keeping this red one anyway. You'd be driving down the road a whole lot faster this way. You could easily turn Gert into cash to rebuild your drive train or maybe even trade for such. Worth considering.

Ok if there is very little rust on the early DB I think you should jump on it and use Gertrude as a donor. Then sell what is left of Gertrude.

Just remember.....everyone else can spend your money real fast by suggesting you have a poor car to build. Only you can make the decision on which way to go.

Speaking of Belairs~ I just started my power front disc brake conversion, should be finished tomorrow!! Trying to have both Stang n Belair for the next 59 diner thing here in houston! Again, even when we're "finished" with restorations, there's always something to do!!

Interesting : http://houston.craigslist.org/cto/2324823034.html

I saw the one Lethal just posted, this morning but didn't have time to stop and check it out. Funny they put it in the Pittsburgh listings though (4hrs away)
If anyone wants a pair of eyes on it I'll go look at it (about two miles from me). kip

I'm sure I am not the only one distressed by the seemingly endless examples of the illiteracy found in today's America. This guy's ads are certainly not the work of someone writing outside their native tongue so that excuse can't be used. He just cannot freaking spell! How can you expect buyers to take you seriously and, just as importantly, believe your description when you can't properly spell the names of common car parts?

Yeah, he is a grate spelur allrite! LOL! Hey Lethal are you anywhere near Beaver Falls? (gotta sister in law there) kip
