If you are up for other GM options take a look at 68 Firebird tail lights. Their overall outline is rectangular which flows better with the inside profile of the quarter panel extensions. Pretty stealthy in my opinion.

The old Fiberfab mustangs used sixtysomething GTO tail lights which are a little bolder, but still look good.

Now that is a commitment! I think you better rethink your gas cap location. Not much room for a stock cap, and I'm not sure it will look good squeezed between the lights. I applaud your drive to make this car happen

the 68, 69 and 70 Shelby used 65 T-Bird tail lights. The 67 Shelby used 67 Cougar tail lights without the "grille"
The T-Bird lights would have been easy cuz they are flat and smaller than the 67 Cougar lights. Mustang Project sells a kit where you don't have to cut the tail light panel and they are LED

So i made a sheet metal backing plate for the pass side and got everything lined up. Ill make another for the drivers side and ill use it to mount an led tail light on it and the bezel and lens will sit flish on the tail panel. I did flip the panel and make sure it fit the drivers side as well

Dang, you did an awesome job.

Took a break from the flap disc and blacked out the tail panel and drivers side bezel to get a better idea of what im going to do

you gonna use the cougar gas door too? or have something else in mind to fill between the lights? It's starting to grow on me but I think I'd have to use the Cougar door to fill the whole tail panel since those lights don't really have an inside edge... but you might have a plan.

and to be honest, the parts of my tail panel were from the same 67 Cougar the lights came from. Basically blended the 67 Cougar tail panel into the 67 Mustang panel and then covered it with a fiberglass panel made for the conversion so it was pretty easy. You are going down uncharted waters!

yeah i tried to find a 69 tail panel but doesnt look like they reporoduce them.

Im not sure about the gas panel. I was thinking about fabricating something or i maybjust do the billet black gas cap. Not sure yet

Speaking of "relocating" the filler.

Has anyone here done that or seen it done?
