I have pics like this from our years in the Kansas sticks!

Just north of me.

STORY COUNTY, Iowa – A cluster of accidents on I-35 near Story City Tuesday morning have blocked the southbound lanes of the interstate and caused serious injuries.

We got another 6-8" today. It's getting a little annoying now. I'm sick of snow!

Home is where you lay your head. You guys know you love your home. The grass is always greener somewhere else until....

Of course, until this morning, I was posting in sympathy, since I was safely ensconced in sunny Kandahar, Afghanistan. Then I woke up to THIS shit.

Air you can (and will) eat with a fork.

BTW, my lovely bride just messaged me and told me that the Iowa DNR is asking ice fishermen to remove their fishing houses from the lakes by the Fourth of July so as to not interfere with fireworks.

Don't get me wrong; I am Iowa bred and born, and truly love the state. It's just that I've fallen out of love of actually living there. Because for 3 months a year, you can die or lose limbs if you stay out of doors unprotected for a few minutes.

Now that I am on the verge of "old fartitude," I think I deserve some warmer temps in winter. And its not just the cold-ass winters, either. Summers can be hideous, with sustained temps in the 100s, with 100% humidity.

Tennessee has an average temperature 20 degrees warmer in winter and 5 degrees cooler in summer.

Los Angeles will set a record for the coldest February. The average was in the low 60’s and never hit the 70’s. That will screw up averaged yearly temperature for the global warminests.

Snowiest winter in Iowa since the 1800's, so sayeth the local station weather prognosticators. Not the most snow by a little, but three times as much! I think it started snowing and got damn cold the day after Christmas and hasn't let up since. January had a buttload of the white stuff too.
