What did you get done on your Stang today????

just sheetmetal work or is there frame time involved/ thats what is the killer on this stuff. thats prob a good deal if no framework needs done.

Pulled the blown motor out today and took it mostly apart to see the damage. I added pics to my thread in the track forum.

frame is definitely bent

Tore out the transmission, clutch and PP, learned that.. apparently, I have no clue about how to install a manual transmission because I destroyed the pilot bearing the first time. This had the result of trashing the clutch and PP. The flywheel should be OK once I get it resurfaced.

I've already ordered the parts to fix her.. along with a new clutch fork and pivot stud. I'm hoping that everything will be in by next weekend so I can put everything back together.

Good times!

No progress on the car, went to the Auto Fair in Charlotte at speedway. Saw tons of old car junk, great day! Purchased 4 1967 hubcaps for just $15.00. I now have 14 hubcaps for one car! Not many Mustangs at the show but did see lots of nice cars. Looking for a console, saw two both over $600.00, not willing to pay that much just yet. Saw two VERY ORIGINAL Shelbys, one still had 3 of it's original tires. Barn finds, one 67 and the other was a 68.

Use a couple of guide bolts to line up the motor and bell housing. It's a no brainer that way!

I didn't work on the coupe today, because it's ready for Utah. But, I did use my trailer dolly to get the big box out into the street without any major incidents or accidents. Then, after removing a few more things that I store in there, I went to work on a temporary repair for the roof vents. Glued my hands together several times, but I think the plastic sheeting will work for now. Finished up by cleaning the trailer and the driveway where I store it. Just have to wash it tomorrow evening and claybar the painted stripes and it will be ready. Not fun doing this when it's 99-100 degrees out. Came close to heat exhaustion both days.

Stupid leak. I don't know why it's leaking from the breather. I checked it was on there good and tight. Maybe it's just old and time for it to be replaced. :shrug
Guess it wouldn't hurt to pick a new one up. I'm going to run to the parts store and see if they have a motorcraft one.

Yeah so that's my plan for today. Buy more stuff and see if it fixes anything. I haven't driven Gertrude in like a month! :steer

Is it leaking oil pretty good, or just blowby residue? If it is oil, there's probably a baffle that's missing. If it is blowby, your PCV valve may be clogged or you have excessive pressure (blow-by) in the engine. A clogged breather cap shouldn't be leaking: it's a source of fresh air into the engine crankcase.

I thought I remembered her engine having roller rockers. With those valve covers, I'd bet the OP removed the baffles for clearance otherwise they wouldn't fit.

I had to modify the baffles in my VC's to keep the oil from coming out so much.

I'm surprised it ever ran long enough to pump the oil all the way to top of the engine.

Since Barbie hasn't been around figured I'd fill in for him.

Picked up my rotors from the machine shop today. I now have all of the pieces together for the entire front suspension, just waiting to be bolted together! That completes the entire suspension and brake system, as far as purchasing, replacing, repairing, restoring or modifying anything. Once it's all bolted in place I can run the brake lines and it'll be a full roller. I also figured out the final pieces in the fuel system puzzle last night after locating some fittings for the pressurized lines from the in tank pump to the engine. :yah

Got my 355 gear pumpkin installed. Almost blew a gasket lifting that thing while on my back. I need to fab some sort of lifter to go on the jack next time I do this.

Repacked the front bearings, greased all joints and checked for loose bolts.
Tomorrow my new/rebuilt center section is coming in, so I'll be getting ready for the install of that.

cool, she will be ready for the PT!!!

Oh Yeah!! I'm also chasing a rear vibration that I didn't have last year so I'm sort of back tracking on some things I did lately. :confu

Shaped a set or tie rod relocators to correct the ackerman. Making some headway.
