Had some me time

Had some more "me time ".
Did some measurements to install tje strut rod brackets. Drilled holes and welded them onto the front end.
I maybe overkilled it with "spotwelds".
Last pic is to show off.

Beside its cold in my garage nowedays, I did some work on my frame jig so I could position the fastback properly at the A-pillar.
Used some old style Celette fixtures and altered them.
But first I had to remove the inner "weldseam" of the "traverse" where the Celette supports should slide into. After trying to grind it away , I used a chisel and hammered it away.
Now I need to do more adjustments to line up the car correctly.

Not skiing just sunbathing, it's off the coast of Africa and I can save some money ( more bits for the Stang) by turning the very expensive heating off!!

I'm still managing to take the car out for the odd short drive, I'm still trying to get my head around the AFR readings and reading up about "how lean is lean"
there seems to be different opinions on that.
The new Sanderson shorty headers have a "harsher / louder" sound compared to the long tube hookers I took off though the rest of the system is just the same?
It doesn't seem to have affected the performance at all and is possibly "sharper" and better to drive now.

From what I known is that during acceleration it has to be on the rich side and deceleration on the lean side.
When driving steady it should be around 14.7 (ideal)
When running lean , engine temp should rise rapidly and gets even higher in stop and go traffic.
And color of spark plug of course after a good run.
IMHO.

Painted in the past the back of the dashboard. Now it was time to prep and paint the cowl.
Still have to order some seamsealer to seal off the air ducs lower cowl before prime and paint.

Next , sealed air ducs and wiper pivot mounting holes. Next comes etching primer and paint.

Inside cowl scuffed the urethane primer , sealed air ducs , etching primer and last a satin black paint.

I have the dreaded cowl leak. Do you think you would need more of some type of water proofing material on the inside of that top hat vent?

Yes, I could use some kind of bedliner/rubberized paint but I don't think this car will see much rain and will stored inside so there will be no debris collected inside the cowl also . And till its rusted through again , I will be on the eternal hunting grounds for a long time .
Maybe I paint a date or so inside the cowl....for the next man who is restoring the car...again .

I find that if you don't drive them in the rain or store them outside, the cowl never leaks!

Thats true but remember , this car was a wreck and needed a complete front.
And if it wasn't a wreck , I still would repair it the right way just to give me a good chance to get good money for it when selling it.
The mustang hobby for me is to have fun , challenge me and a garantee to get my money back or even more.

And if it wasn't a wreck , I still would repair it the right way just to give me a good chance to get good money for it when selling it.

Well , soon or later I will sell all my mustangs. The kids like them but don't have a place to store neither have the knowledge to maintain them. For me its a good investment if I can sell a 67 fastback body with title for 18 euro grand. The german market is ideal for it.
