great chance to clean up and shoot a fresh coat of paint on everything!
That sucks. But if it gives you more power it can't be all bad now, can itI have lined up a set of 03-04 heads and a set of 96-98 cams. Hopefully that combo makes a bit more power than the stock
Be careful with 2003 4 cam heads. If they are factory, they have a real issue with the spark plug design. The plugs only engage about 3 threads. Ford fixed the issue with the 2004. There is a fix for the 2003 heads, but it requires installing steel thread inserts.
It has nothing to do with pulling them out when they are hot. The engines actually just spit the spark plugs out during spirited driving. We had two of the eight that launched on their own. I would highly encourage looking at the Timesert or equivalent product while the engine is out of the car. Doing it in the car was a monumental undertaking. I was able to rent the toolset locally and just purchase the inserts. I used this --> chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://www.locknstitch.com/pdf/Ford%20Triton%20Instructions.pdfI spoke with my machinist about this. Thought about adding them but he said just make sure you use antiseize and don’t try to pull them out of hot engine. Gonna roll the dice and hope it doesn’t bite me.
