70_Fastback: RAT ROD - 193x Ford / 1942 GMC Truck

There are no pedals Pete. It will be a below floor master cylinder with a break pedal riser. I can make it whatever & where ever I want it to be.

Again, another high point of a rat rod...

Yep, just a note to you as I have seen people forget that until they actually tried to operate things after installing....

it's amazing how much the chop changes the attitude of the cab... funny how the rear looks like it's got a lot more taper to it even though it it didn't change from the beltline down. It looks great.

I scored a deal (maybe of the century) on a later 194? bed. It's a short box bed, but I'll still have to shorten it. I may have to narrow it too. I'll see when I get it home tonight!

But getting it home in my little sport-trac bed may be fun too... since it's only a 4' bed.

Stupid small trucks...

Time for you to step up to a real man's truck instead of that toy truck you have!

Just for you Pete! It actually went pretty smoothly.

:lol :lol I knew it wouldn't be as bad as you thought. I have hauled a lot of odd things over the years and figured that bed would fit in there pretty good. Bed looks in good shape too. From the fender line, it looks like a 48/49/50 body style.

Few more pics of my new junk. The bed is from a '46 (?) chevy - the owner thought. Doesn't really matter to me. I like the look & style of it. I will just need to shorten it by about 25" or so. As it sits, it's 6'-7" long. And 48" wide -inside to inside.

The fenders were on the bed, but I am doing a fenderless build, so I talked him down $120 bucks and had him remove the fenders for me. The bed ended up costing me $75 bucks.

And after buying all of my rectangular tubing steel for the frame and DOM tubing and heims joints now, I am approaching the $1K mark total. Not bad at all so far!

Ah, ok. The PO didn't know what it was from. They actually buy and sell truck bed trailers and they got this bed in a deal with, like, 10 other truck bed trailers. But it was not converted yet.

Made me think of Tarafied a bit with the truck bed trailers and his POS build. LoL.

I think you should mount the new bed to the Sport trac.....It will give you more room to haul chit...
yes, he's right!

Cool, $75 is a steal (I think). Man I'm getting excited, this thing is going to be so cool!!!

LoL. No, no mustang ones Craig2. They had a bunch of mid 70's Chevy long bed trailers. Not nearly as cool as your "Poup".

Going with Rick's thought; why not use the Ranger bed on the Rat (no rust and shorter) and put the Chevy bed on the Ranger?
