Johnny M - E-car build tread

That sounds pretty neat. Can you take a close up picture? I can think of more than a few times that would've been handy come back cool cruise night.

I also think it will come in very handy. More handy than A/C over here and that's why I didn't bother installing AC in my car.

I'll try and get some pics later on. The elements are very fine so the camera might not pick them up.

Are you going to install some type of light or indicator letting you know the heating element is on? Make sure it can only come on when the ignition switch is on. Hate to read posts of you complaining that the windshield drained your battery.

Yea, will be using a timed switch which lights up when the heater is on and shuts off after a set time. I can cycle it twice if need be.

That sounds pretty slick. My Jaguar had a heated front windshield, but I never had a chance to try it.

I know it's not because it never got cold enough! :roll

Very sharp and excellent attention to detail.

Did you fab up your recess for the fuel filler door or is that a kit?

Thanks.

It's a kit I bought. eBay from Australia

Intermittent wiper and electric washer pump test install.

I drilled my old heater control panel and mocked up the controls

It's not ideal as from the seating position you are more or less looking at the switch side on but I think I can live with it unless I do an ash tray mod.

And I think I prefer it a little "out of the way" on that side of the column.

Looking awesome Johnny. I too am having the same dilemma for a wiper switch. I want intermittent, and well, the stock 67 location is simply awkward and non intermittent friendly as far as I can tell? Your location is great for a non AC car, but may I suggest the option of perhaps the 69 bezel, or the 65-66 bezel and knob for a more OEM look?

69 Bezel, which may improve your view angle?

I myself was thinking for my car to replace the ignition with the 65/66 knob and bezel which there is an intermittent switch for, and install a push start in the ashtray where the lighter is, hidden out of sight. Maybe that's a bit of a PITA though, dunno??

65-66 knob and bezel

Anyways, nice to see updates, and the car looks amazing!

He would need to buy the switch extension piece if he changed the angle. That would be another $20. I needed to use the extension with the location I chose.
