Mach1Mark's '65 coupe restomod

Ive used those connectors on my coupe at the suggestion of another car buddy. they work well.

spent time at Upstate Hot Rods swapping out starters. Determined the new Motorcraft battery I purchased in Dec 2017 was dead. Went to Advanced auto and purchased store brand GOLD battery w/ 750 CCA !! Engine started right up. Added five (5) gals of 93 octane no-methanol to tank. First Fuel !! Allen advised I had the starter and MSD ignition box wired incorrectly, he corrected.

Getting close to bringing the Colt home from the resto shop. Wiring done, going over the whole car checking for loose fasteners, alignment, test drive. Once I get him home I will install the rest of the interior.

I guess I missed when the car got sent off to be finished up but glad to hear it's getting close.

He’s been at boarding school for four months. I realized I was in for a lot of trial and error so I found a shop that does harness installs like mine. After Ryan had his harness go up in smoke I wanted to avoid a similar possibility.

The restomod of my '65 coupe almost complete and I discovered the water pump flex fan is pushing air thru the grill when the engine is running. Its installed correctly and looks like is should pull air toward the engine. Not sure Ive ever seen this situation before. Im using a 15.25" Derale stainless flex fan. Ideas? Suggestions?

I am not sure what motor you are running, but the newer 5.0 pushrod motors use a reverse rotation water pump. There is a good chance you have the wrong fan for the year of motor.

which is why I posted my question here: Im running a big cube (408) Windsor. Ive got the fan installed on the water pump with the fan blade curve toward the engine.

All fans, reverse rotation and regular rotation have the curved part of the blade towards the engine. But if the blade is spinning backwards it will push air vs pulling it. Both types of fans will fit either rotation. Both will work on the 408, depending on direction they are being driven. I would verify you have the correct water pump as well.....turning it backwards will do little to help cool the motor.

Since December Ive been documenting the damage and missing parts on my coupe done by the shop that had him for six months. Ive ordered replacement parts and been installing them, prepping to send it to a legit hot rod shop to finish the wiring. Im going to have to sue the previous shop for missing parts, damage and fees paid for work done poorly.

Damn Mark. That sucks. Wish I lived closer I'd be more than happy to help you out. Its a shame so many get ripped off like that. I simply can't understand how people can be that way. Worse, how they get away with it.

This post bring back too many memories of when my stang was in restore shop jail. I was a lucky one and got my car, He closed up and cleared out one weekend leaving many without their cars.

Good luck going forward.

Youre HIRED !! (what else ya got to do?? Me neither)

Today the weather was nice enough that I could push the Colt outside and work. The pass side door weather strip needed to be re-glued near the door lock and I finally glued-installed the driver door weather strip !! My list is getting shorter.

That shop really beat my paint job up. Nicks and scratches that werent there when they picked him up. Im thinking if IO can prove it I may sue them for a new paint job.

I’ve been messing around trying to get my front and rear window stainless trim to seat for a couple of years. I finally put enough grunt on the top of the windshield trim I got it to seat !! Going to try and recurve the rear window bottom trim piece.

Success !! I gently massaged the new rear window trim I bent and was able to get it re-curved enough that installed easily and the kink is barely visible. Then I installed the remaining rear trim pieces without issue. I feel like I got a lot done today, and my list continues to get smaller !!
