What did you get done on your Stang today????

:yah Finished body work to my C pillers and primed the roof! I have determined the following...

1. Doing body work sucks!
2. I will never again bitch about paying to have body work done by a pro.
3. If I did body work for a living I would starve!

The seam between the C piller and the quarter was hard to get right. I am sure there is some sanding block I do not have that would have made it easy. Anyway they are done and look very good. Next up sand and prime my quarters, then on to blocking with guide coat.

i think the "sanding block" you were looking for was a piece of 5/8" or so heater hose. also works great around the fender openings, when you get to that point...

I had to pull the timing chain cover, after snapping two bolts on the water pump earlier in the week. So now I need to order a new cover, so I can finish cleaning up the motor and engine compartment.

Haven't done anything to my 66 in a couple weeks, not even drive it. Last time I drove it to a car meet, I was told the lifters sounded as if they were loose a little. Next week I'm taking my '66 to a mechanic and he's going to check the lifters. I need to get the front alignment adjusted some more too.

Will it ever end? :shrug LOL

Loose lifters?! That's a new one. While they're at it why don't you have them adjust your rockers too. :sarc

I got the rest of my exhaust hooked up. The Hooker headers still hang too low. I made two S-bends to raise the rest of the exhaust up some, but it's still too low. Not sure what I'm going to do, if anything, about it.

Finally took it for a short spin on Sunday... A couple af small winter projects led to other changes. Taller fabricated valve coveres led to adding an intake spacer for EFI clearance. The first set of neoprene V/C gaskets leaked bad, so switched over to Felpro 1645 laminated cork gaskets. With the intake raised, more wiring and such was exposed, so cleaned up wire routing and such. Also with the bigger fabricated valve covers the stock 5.0 fuel lines had to be relocated slightly, but then they got way to close to the power lug on the 3G alternator, so I had to convert over to AN braided lines and change the routing. During wire routing cleanup. I also broke the terminal off the for the electric fan switch on the thermostat housing. While changing over to an adjustable E-fan controller, I discovered a warmed over power connector for the e fan power lead. Hopefully a shorter run coming directly off of the alternator will solve that issue. I'll also be replacing the 23 year old electric fan motor today just in case it was drawing too much current. I also made up some custom sway bar links and installed those this weekend too. I haven't been running a front sway bar for 5 years... it didn't seem bad at all, but I can definitely feel a positive differnence with it all set up now.

Yahoos doing all the road construction on 121/114 decided to pump all the water they had sitting in the unfinished portions out onto the roadway.... Jess laughed and said she had never seen the car so dirty (or out of the garage...)

I bought a Grant Steering Wheel from Rob (66gt350), I finally put it on.

Got the nasty, noisy, leaky old Power Steering pump pulled off last night, and swapped the pulley onto the new pump. What a messy job that turned out to be... Pulling the rack & pinion out next to replace it "while I'm at it" - the inner boots are full of fluid (they are not supposed to be).... :char Have new offset rack bushings, and new hoses sitting here too, just need more free time. :shrug :steer

While waiting for my leds and diffusers to come in I started refurbing the cluster.

Used a mothers powerball kit for headlights followed up with some 3M ultrafine se (blue) finishing polish on the lenses. The bezel was just cleaned with glass cleaner. The woodgrain was cleaned only, no polish no tricks.

Spots on black that were nicked or scratched were touched up with a black sharpie then dulled with glass cleaner. The silver was done with a silver sharpie.

always wondered what a silver sharpie would do on those bezel "rings". looks good!

i finished up one of the lower control arm boxing plates & got it welded in.

also made up two new valance mounting brackets, the 1"wide, 9" long strips that bolt between the bumper arms & valance . $10 ea. repop just sounded too high, so made a pair for abot 10 cents...

also removed to old stock brake m/c & started making the battery tray reinforment panel that goes under the apron. again, i'm not paying $38 for a small , flat piece of sheetmetal! the repop doesn't even have the square nuts included that the battery tray bolts to... i don't get it. the whole apron costs $5 more than the little plate that reinforces it...
