What did you get done on your Stang today????

Haven't touched the '66 in a few weeks. :hide I needed garage space to paint my dining room table & chairs so Gertrude has actually been sitting in my driveway for the last couple of weeks covered with a tarp and car cover. Now that my dining room table is done and back in the house, I can put Gertrude back in the garage. It's been nasty weather off and on here for a while but today there's only like 10% chance of rain so good time to try and get something done. I got a new Motorcraft solenoid as recommended last week that I plan on putting in today. Crossing my fingers this solves my issues. If it doesn't.... well hell if I know. Maybe buy a new starter.

I drained the radiator, even though i am not supposed to really be doing anything yet since I had back surgery last thursday. Figured if I get it drained down awhile, once I bug either my neighbor or dad it won't take them long to swap in the new rad. I want to get this thing running again so I can drive it since I am not allowed to work on it for a few months.

spent the afternoon exercising my tubing bender & flaring tool. first i mounted up the wilwood dist. block. had to take some round stock, drill it out into heavy wall tubing (didn't have any tubing here the size i needed) & cut it angled to match the apron. used the cutoff piece on the other side as a spacer & bolted it up.

made up my short lines to connect to the m/c & made the drivers front line from the dist block to the caliper line. ended up routing these thru a hole in the lower apron instead of thru the shock tower & down. ran these forward & looped them around to mate up with the hose.

made my reservoir line that runs to the clutch master. ended up routing this towards the apron, then down & back under the booster following the contour of the booster back up to the reservoir. a small piece of hose will connect the two.

after all that, i dug another tire out of the shed for a test fit. too bad these wont fit, they look killer set at ride height! all i could do to shove them up into the fenderwells with a jack...

Replaced the burned out bulb in my tail light. Since it has a sequential kit, I had to take it all apart to fix. The list is getting smaller.

Because finally we had good wheather , I took it out to snap some picture.
Together with other old cars I have.

On my garage I have 18 solarpanels of 240watts each , so total is 4320wp.
This will cover 2/3 of my annual need.
I also have 10 solarpanels of 240 wp on the roof of my houses .
But this solarplan is orientated to the west , so it doesn't give me its full power.
The breakeven point in this investment is after 5 years.
I get from the governement , 450 euro for each 1000 Kwh the solarplant produces.
I did jump on this wagon because it was too good to be true and meanwhile they lowered that amount to 250 euros a 1000Kwh.It was too expensive in the long run for the governement.
I have a contract for 20 years that stated that I get 450 euros for every 1000Kwh my solarplants produces.

Well today I finally got around to installing the rear seat belts. Also upgraded the fronts to 3-points. I used the Wesco "van conversion" belts with the extended sash (WELR-L):

I Re-used my existing mounting hardware. I also pulled the old JohnPro trick & just used the existing mounting points, which works fine. Maybe someday down the line I'll get ambitious and make another mounting point but I didn't feel like ripping the carpet out today so for now it will do. If I ever get around to converting to a fold-down rear seat, that would be a good time :roll

P.S. - I got the 11" belt ends with the plastic sleeve for the tunnel hump side. I had to remove the sleeve because it wouldn't fit between the seat, and the hump / console. If you are tall enough to have the unmodified factory seat back all the way or one notch forward, the 11" ends are just long enough. If you have the seat further forward, or are the stockier type, you might consider the 20" option. I test fitted the rear seat belt end, but at 24", it was too long & the buckle ended up just below my sternum. For reference, I am 5'11"/160#.

P.S.S. - I really need to wash & detail my car. I think it's just about time for some new seat upholstery too... :confu

Finally got my bendix booster replaced.
My son did help me !!! ( he felt he had to do something because of a thing he did in the past )

Please don't take the following as pissing in your wheaties, but the pivot point of the shoulder harness appears to be lower than your shoulder. In an accident, the seat belt will pull your shoulder down which is not recommended. The location of the "pulley" should be above your shoulder level.

Finished by rear upgrade. Woo Hoo, those 355 locking gears are a lot of fun compared to the 270 open gears.

Funny thing is that with it hooking up better, it does not do a burn out.

It is. Those Mach 1 buckets have a pretty high back, so that probably contributes to the illusion, but when the belts are in place the upper pivot point is a good 5" above my shoulder. So there's a fair amount of clearance.

But you do bring up an excellent point that anyone thinking about doing this upgrade should bear in mind, especially those with convertibles.

Thanks for looking out for me regardless :thu

Looks about right to me. My 3 Points are a little higher than yours and they drive me crazy. They come up way too far on my body. Almost as bad as the factory shoulder belts did.
