Please don't take the following as pissing in your wheaties, but the pivot point of the shoulder harness appears to be lower than your shoulder. In an accident, the seat belt will pull your shoulder down which is not recommended. The location of the "pulley" should be above your shoulder level."DougG69" said:Well today I finally got around to installing the rear seat belts. Also upgraded the fronts to 3-points. I used the Wesco "van conversion" belts with the extended sash (WELR-L):

I Re-used my existing mounting hardware. I also pulled the old JohnPro trick & just used the existing mounting points, which works fine. Maybe someday down the line I'll get ambitious and make another mounting point but I didn't feel like ripping the carpet out today so for now it will do. If I ever get around to converting to a fold-down rear seat, that would be a good time :roll

"DougG69" said:It is. Those Mach 1 buckets have a pretty high back, so that probably contributes to the illusion, but when the belts are in place the upper pivot point is a good 5" above my shoulder. So there's a fair amount of clearance.
But you do bring up an excellent point that anyone thinking about doing this upgrade should bear in mind, especially those with convertibles.
Thanks for looking out for me regardless :thu
