70_Fastback: RAT ROD - 193x Ford / 1942 GMC Truck

The threaded caps sound better than the snap in caps... Also with the open ended frame in the rear a couple of machine gun like barrels stuffed in there might look pretty cool too for when the tail gate it down.

The frame won't be left open on the ends. I will close it in.

Just measured a .50 cal, it's .800" at the base. Just north of 51/64"

What about a 20mm? You can get dummy rounds.

Hmmmmm... maybe skip the bed and turn it into a tanker... a BEER tanker....

On our local craigslist... Even has the Bud Clydesdale mural painted on... :craz

Is the bed going to be functional in carrying any load? It would be a nice parts hauler... more publicity for you.

From the looks of it....maybe it would carry 1/3 sheet of 1/2" plywood........

What are you talking about? That rat rod could carry at least 3 - 4"x2"x3' long!

Structurally yes - it would carry load as the load displacement would be placed on the chassis frame and not the bed structure. But functionally - no; I won't really be hauling loads in it. The only thing it will be hauling is.... arse.

I will fab a removable trunk "type" mesh/grate basket that will drop in the rearward section between the frame rails to carry a cooler, chairs, etc for when we go to shows/cruises. Upon arrival I can just lift the entire "trunk" assembly out and set it behind the truck.
