70_Fastback: RAT ROD - 193x Ford / 1942 GMC Truck

Just hope your not going to drive it long distances. Of course you could just through some ice in the tub! :lol

It'll have a "seat" in the tub Jake - that would just be the outer "housing".

Considering this truck's probable history, a rat-rod with a nice machine gun mounted on the roof would be a nice touch, don't you think?

Well I picked up the front drop axle & radius arms this weekend (split wishbone setup). Next up will be the mono-leaf spring, spindles, etc.

Next up was to start mocking up my frame. I decided to mock it up with wood first to determine angles, lengths, etc and then I can fine tweak it with the steel. Hope to pick up steel next week - just need to price it out... :sad I will be going with 2"x3" rec tubing.

Started laying everything out to figure a length...

The front end is not complete yet... I really need my spring and mount to finalize that...

The bed/box will be a 4' box -basically even with the back of the wood - and extending 12" over the "Z". The axle will not be centered under the box - but 12" off of the end.

I have to run to Dad's shop to borrow the cherry picker again so I can get the engine up where it goes & build a dolly stand for it.

Plus I want to brace the frame and drop the cab down on it to see how it sets with the front "Z". The body will be to be channeled a few inches to get it sitting a bit lower. But I wanted some decent clearance under the frame. As it sits now, it's at 8" to the bottom of the frame.

ANOTHER automatic J? Can you drive a stick?

Yeah, I can drive a stick Rick. But this tranny was CHEAP and will be an easy install. So those factors won out.
